Only 22 content providers?

quote:
said Burke, who noted the TV Everywhere has 22 content providers lined up.
What's the point of only a select few content providers?

That's not TV everywhere, thats just online video content.

I want to be able to watch EVERY channel I subscribe to from any (fast enough) internet connection in the world.

That would be TV everywhere.

That would be a Slingbox, which has existed for years now. You don't really think the cable industry is really going to embrace a technology that will put them out of business, do you?

Aperently you missed the part where I said
quote:
I want to be able to watch EVERY channel I subscribe to
It would be for cable SUBSCRIBERS only, like they have planned, but you would get all your channels not just a select few.

Re: Only 22 content providers?

No, I didn't miss a thing. Connect a Slingbox to your cable box and you'll be watching "EVERY channel [you] subscribe to" on your computer anywhere there is a 512k or faster Internet connection.

No muss, no fuss, no additional charges from the cable company for the privilege of keeping you in their walled garden.

Check out the Slingbox and report back. You'll find that it reveals this "TV Everywhere" gimmick to be "TV in a few places with a few channels we want you to watch".

Re: Only 22 content providers?

I know what a Slingbox is.

Only problem is it depends on my Comcast internet connection to be working.

Also it takes control of the Tivo (cable box), not a good solution if somone is at home wanting to watch one program and you want to sling a different one.

Orb »www.orb.com/ can do the same thing (using a PC tuner card) and is free, but also suffers with Comcast connection issues.

Re: Only 22 content providers?

Sounds like you need to get rid of Comcast. They're not delivering what you pay for.

Re: Only 22 content providers?

Believe me if I had even ONE other choice for broadband I would drop Comcast like the steaming turd they are.
