The content available on P2P programs is more often than not illegal. The content is also often riddled with malware. Even if you manage to avoid these issues the programs themselves present more security risks, especially if configured poorly.
It's kind of a Taboo subject and really not something help is available for.
You have managed to help us (all that were unaware) of the DNA add-on for firefox, the questionable methods in which it "curries favor to be installed. Thankyou
As you have managed to uninstall this program and have more of an idea on how to "problem solve" it's possible return that's about as far as my advice can take me, as it stands..The intent to baffle or anger, was by design, not intended.

Has the DNA program returned?
The add on may have to be added when ff is re-started.
If you uninstalled it using the uninstaller then you should be fine.
If it returns a program you use requires it (i'd remove that instead) or a web site insists on dropping it (have not heard of this but....)

Reinstalling is good from time to time but in this case i wouldn't consider it important.

I'm sure I updated another add-on such as NoScript before that day. I wasn't sure how DNA got there, it ticked me off that something sneaked in there, but didn't give it too much thought.

If you read near the bottom of your link, it suggests that they intended to intergrate the program (DNA) into bit-torrent and include a means at which to disable DNA from functioning.

The fact that firefox says it is not "compatable" with ver 3.5.2 points to early release of the accelerator or ff has not got it running for 3.5.2 yet.

Look for the uninstaller in "ADD/REMOVE" or discuss with the family if it is to stay.
If not configured properly you could very well see the contents of your hard-drive available for download. Not to mention, more often than not (figure of speech) the incomming files are packing malware. Your computer may also be spewing out spam or ddos'ing someone.

Do the other users of your family run as Admin? My guess is that they do and they shouldn't. If there were different user accounts on the machine, you would probably only see an addon installed on just the user account that was running.(That's one reason to not let them run as Admin!)

However, if you google this, there is an actual program and it is independent of BitTorrent. So I'm guessing one of your kids installed it, whether intentionally or not. Do you see the exec in Add/Remove?

I go on the pc and see mozilla add-ons window open with dna plug-in 1.0.0.1 and have btdna.exe running

i have no idea what would even install that...Extremely weird
