<description><![CDATA[tantivy posted : MaBell has had a disaster recovery component for many many years..<br><br>I remember seeing a cord board, or maybe it was a SxS, built into a crate at the old PacBell museum in SF, dating from the 1920's, or maybe earlier.<br><br>During the TD2 microwave days (postwar-1980's), they had trailers/trucks with microwave gear, portable towers, etc, ready to replace destroyed relay sites. <description><![CDATA[Rhaas posted : Our one time sister company Falcon Communications does disaster recovery. Not quite to that extent but the have several class 5's in trailers specifically for the purpose. Mainly their system is meant for the smaller telco's that couldn't afford a NDR to the extent that AT&T does. IIRC All their trailers were in use after Katrina.]]></description>

<description><![CDATA[TomS_ posted : Came across this earlier: &raquo;<A HREF="http://www.corp.att.com/ndr/exercises.html" >www.corp.att.com/ndr/exercises.html</A><br><br>Its a series of overviews of training exercises that the AT&T NDR team(s) have conducted over the years - with LOTS of pictures.<br><br>Looks like quite an extensive setup they have, and very modular.<br><br>Judging by the date of some of the exercises you could argue that AT&T invented the shipping container datacentre model. :)<br><br>Its good to see that even during these types of events they still take the time to lay everything out properly and even do some lacing of cables - even though only temporary.]]></description>
