Everything data

Apparently if you have any of the 'Everything Data' plans this will automatically be added to the plan.

Note to self, make sure to edit all my contacts to make primary numbers for everyone their cell phones...

This is a good deal for me. I have the "Everything Data" plan for my Palm Pre and it looks like all my calls to mobile phones won't be counted against my 450 min monthly limit.
Existing Sprint customers who currently subscribe to an Everything Data or Everything Data Family plan will automatically receive – at no extra charge – the added value of Any Mobile, Anytime starting on the first day of the their next bill cycle, with no effort required on their part.
This should allow some people with higher monthly minutes to downsize their plans accordingly.

Unlimited data limited to 5 GB. Anyone see a problem with that?

Sprint currently offers truly unlimited data in pc cards to business accounts now, I believe it was $69.99 and no cap.

NO. Because most data access is done within WiFi range of my own AP or other APs. So the amount of data access thru the 3G or Edge networks is minimal. I never get near the 5GB limit and barely reach 500 MB/month.

Correct. And regular joes and jills w/o a Sprint Business account can get that plan from Sprint resellers like Millenicom. Millenicom in particular offers the $69.99 unlimited plan on a month-to-month contract.

(FYI, I use their service.)

It helps but when I work from home some weekdays, I'm mostly calling business landlines. However I never use up my 1500 anytime minutes anyway with two phones on the account.

Will be nice to call other cellphones during day but then you are burning up _their_ minutes, which may cause friends/family not on Sprint to make the call short.

It's creative marketing spin for Sprint though that might frustrate the other carriers. We won't know if it's effective until they can show an increase in customers.

Sprint is looking more and more attractive in the last year though, especially since customer support has shown real improvement.

Good for you. That still doesn't mean there's not a problem with calling something UNLIMITED then putting limits on them. That's like a restaurant having an "all you can eat" buffet then limiting you to one plate. Even if you only intended to eat only one plateful it's still wrong to call it "all you can eat"

Smartphone data is soft-capped. Mobile broadband is the only thing with a hard cap.

I think the author of the article is a bit confused. The Everything Data plan includes true unlimited GB (no 5 GB cap). The 5 GB cap is for newer data card purchases.

It would be nice, but for Everything Data family plans, the minimum bucket of minutes is 1500. With free Any Mobile calling, Sprint needs to adjust their bucket offerings as well. All they are doing is giving a little more value to the people who actually talk a TON, but adding little value to anyone who wants just a couple hundred minutes with all the data.

After looking at precentral posts, Sprint might be taking a big risk with a hit in ARPU. A lot of Precentral users who are on the $99 unlimited everything plan just called to drop to the $69 everything data plan due to the new announcement.

The new plan would not only have to draw a lot of new customers to make it worth it, it would also have to offset the revenue losses of existing customers stepping down their existing plan.

Maybe they are looking to get all the people dropping Verizon due to higher prices.

you could get a Sprint airave, and then all your calls would be unlimited while at home, would be good since you work from home.

And AT&T users. I'm most likely going to pay to move my daughter to this plan, drop her off our family plan with AT&T, scale our Family Plan WAY back to the minimum, and save a boatload of money each month while not worrying about overages with her and likely providing her with better service to boot. (She hates her AT&T service and keeps begging me to go back to Verizon, I explained this is almost the same thing.)

I need to do a little more legwork to compare the numbers, but at initial glance, it looks like a winner.

It's not limited to 5gb, you just get throttled speeds if you hit that cap during the month.

There is no soild proof that Sprint has a hard cap. Many people have used more than 5gigs per month without a problem. I've done it. My dad has done it. NOTHING happens! It's only there to be there.

You're probably grandfathered in. New Sprint mobile broadband accounts aren't.

Yay!! I've been with Sprint for about a month now with the Everything Data 450 plan and the Palm Pre and I have to say it's been nothing but a good experience. Sprint just keeps giving and giving and my bill is a a decent size smaller than the bill I had with AT&T and the iPhone 3G.

Thank you Sprint!
