Wow, 850GB. What speed are you (both) on?
Re: "impossible" - I doubt its impossible, unless you are on a very very very slow speed. Even on a 6mbit tier you could pull down that much in just under 11 days.
I believe for business class you could pull that much on the 22/5 speed, @ $90/mo + install cost or long contract. On the 12/2 (starter) the threshold is probably lower - somewhere in the 500-750GB range -- My place : »www.schettino.us |

 | reply to tthnow I got a call a while ago, before the official cap. The amount they quoted me was about 3x the amount I estimated I could possibly have downloaded. The capacity of my hard drive was no where near enough to hold the number they claimed.
Anyway, you have to assume their figures are going to be a multiple of what you actually download.
Since they officially announced the cap, I try to stay under 1/2 of the official number and I use a bandwidth monitor now, to keep track of things and also to have some figures to compare with theirs.
I'm still waiting on the official Comcast bandwidth meter in my Comcast account control panel. I'm sure they're putting that off as long as possible, so their inflated figures can't be tested and disputed by independent data. |

| reply to tthnow Interesting...I thik I used around 300GB last month and haven't gotten "the call". Comcast is probably more sensitive to that sort of thing if you're using a $20-for-six-months 12 Mbit connection versus a more expensive tier.
Personally though 12/2 or 22/5 business would be a good idea. |

850GB is a lot. You'd be using 22% of your total pipe 24/7/30 days, or 100% of your pipe 1 out of 4 days. Not including speedboost, which just makes the math really complicated.
Even so, you could get there if you maxed out your pipe 6 hours a day, every day. Or used 50% of your pipe for 12 hours/day. Or maxed it out for 7 days in a row. -- My place : »www.schettino.us |

You must be on a very empty node not to have had bandwidth management imposed on you for all that uploading.
To think i was worried about going over the cap by a few GB's. |
|
 | reply to tthnow I got the call for using over 800gb, I have the 22/5 tier. |
|
 | So they doing the 250g up/dnl or just dnl like it was originally said? I have 2 pc's running & the most I have ever used was 211g up/dnl which was due to reinstall of winblows & a NEW PC upgrade. |

* It is download and upload combined. FWIW, I don't recall them ever stating officially that it was just download.
* It is measured per calendar month |
