The iPhone will be opened to other carriers, AT&T will still continue to carry it, the only thing that will change is that Apple will sell a CDMA/LTE and GSM or even a CDMA/LTE/GSM version. It's not hard to build a device that can be used anywhere, and Verizon has several phones with GSM radios for business people who need a phone that works overseas.
