Internet/TV/Cell/Telephone Service - Ontonagon MI (UP)

Our family will be moving to the UP (Ontonagon, zip code 49953) in a couple months. We've done the standard internet searches for providers, but there just doesn't seem to be much info and virtually no reviews of service in that region. Ontonagon is about a dozen miles east of the Porcupine Mountains, and about 50 miles from anywhere else.

We currently use DSL service in the Chicago area and are happy with it, but are open to cable or DSL in our new Ontonagon home.

Our second question is TV service (digital and HD)... from what I've found it seems like satellite is a better way to go than cable TV... lower ongoing equipment rental charges and lower service fees.

Lastly, which cell providers have best coverage? We've taken out ATT/Cingular phones up there, but coverage is spotty at best. We've heard Verizon does a better job in the UP.

If anyone can shed any light, offer any opinions, we would be most grateful.

I see some results here »dslbyzip.com/high-speed-internet/ mostly dsl. The dslr ISP search only yeilds wireless ISP's, so the results are somewhat misleading to me.

I'd go with Dish HD or Direct TV HD for your tv, unless one of the dsl providers can set you up with a 3 in 1 deal.

For cellphone coverage here is verizon's map for your area

or if that link doesn't work just type in your zip code.

I know AT&T works pretty good up in the UP. VZ works ok as well not sure which one is better. They both cover pretty well I think AT&T is a bit better but I can't say for sure.

I am looking at moving to sprint for cost reasons. I am curious for anyone that uses Sprint up that way.
