said by cmplx79 :You are correct about Annex M, and ADSL2+ has a theoretical speed limit of 32/3.5meg without annex M. however, that's in basis impossible to obtain. I thought Annex M only boosted upstream and left downstream at 24 megabits still.
If you're looking to the future, start dreaming about VDSL. It has a theoretical bandwidth of 250m bidirectional, although you would probably only really be able to pull 100meg both ways in reality. Of course, you can't really find a DSLAM that can actually support that kind of speed, especially out in the more rural areas, but hey, a man can dream VDSL has been deployed in multiple European Countries already, maybe we will see it here some day not really very excited about regular VDSL, but I am about VDSL2...that said, I'm, by the road, about 4,500-5,000 feet from the DSLAM...and by tests done by Embarq, I'm supposedly at 7,000 something feet..meaning I wouldn't benefit from VDSL2 at all, as it would have already degraded to ADSL2+ performance.
So really, my only hope, in the future, for greater speeds is a higher speed profile that CenturyLink goes with or line-bonding.
bummer again. Ahh well, for now, 10 meg is extra-ordinary. |

Thanks anyway.
