[Verizon] HTC Touch Pro 2

I ordered Friday evening - hopefully it'll be in my hands tomorrow (Tuesday) sometime. Once I've had some time to set it up and play a bit, I'll post some first impressions - and if I get time a more thorough review in the weeks to come.

Great phone. I've had the unlocked version for a while now.

I hope verizon didn't cripple this phone like they do with all their phones.

Let me know if you find any cool appz.

First impressions:

1 - this phone is solid. Both in weight (it's a little heavier than the XV6800/TyTn2 it replaced) and in how it works.

2 - Call clarity is as good or better than the 6800. Signal pickup seems to be a hair better - and the 6800 was already good. I get a better signal indoors than I used to.
b - I use the phone as a tethered modem to a laptop while (train) commuting - and while speed tests seem to be about the same, it "feels" more responsive and faster.

3 - The keyboard is a MAJOR improvement over the 6800. No double entries or skips. It feels very natural in your hand. The on-screen pop-up keyboard is also much better - probably due to the larger screen area - it's not so cramped - especially in landscape mode. If necessary, I can one-hand thumb-type on the on-screen kb - which was next to impossible with the 6800.
The tilt screen (which was a feature of some TyTn2's but not Verizon's version) is a big plus.

4 - The 'Touch-Flo 3D' interface, sitting on top of WinMo 6.1, is a pleasure to use. It takes a little adjustment from the default WinMo interface of the 6800 - just finding where things are. It works nicely, and some iPhone owners who were intrigued with my phone and played with it gave generally favorable comparisons - "It's not an iPhone, but not far off and I could get used to it" was a common reaction.

So - after about a week and 1/2 of medium duty use - so far I'm favorably impressed and very happy with the choice.

When I have time I'll start playing with apps (thanks to Alcohol See Profile for the link).
