| Looking for a Good PDA
I currently have IPAQ 111 and it's nothing but a giant Paint in the Behind.
1) It won't sync with Vista Sync center. It only sync's when I perform soft reset. It won't sync again until I perform soft Reset Again. I have tried all USB connections, I have tried updating the MS Mobile Center to 6.1. It's a 64 bit Vista.
2) It discharges fully at random times even when connected. I can leave the IPAQ connected, see the "wall Plug" icon next to the battery. Leave for the night, just to come back to my PC playing the screen saver (so I know it's on) and IPAQ dead.
It has slowly became a dead weight.
I need a PDA that sync's nicely with Outlook and it's Calendar along with some "Word" and WiFi capability. So far Phone ones are kind of iffy since I have Verizon and Verizon style PDA's from what I've seen are extremely limited and "closed down" by the "Super Safe" Verizon software. |

I went and got a Sharp Zaurus (imported directly from Japan) I paid $500 but it was worth every penny spent. |

| reply to tempnexus There aren't many WinMo PDA only devices still being sold in North America, you'll end up with HP again, Asus or some kind of WinMo GPS based device. On the used market Dell's X51v is the best option, they were built like tanks and were very reliable... my non-VGA X50 has outlived two Palm OS 5.x devices(digitizer failures) and an iPaq(digitizer+charge issues). For other platforms, Nokia's tablet devices are worth trying but they're not exactly pocket friendly.
As far as WinMo phones, just buy an unlocked/used GSM phone for PDA only duty, if the device is still running a carrier firmware you may need to run an "app unlock" for non-signed programs and then disable the phone feature via connections manager. You can still use bluetooth and wifi that way, I still use my old Cingular HTC Wizard this way for a poor-mans Skype wifi phone with a BT headset |

You can get any cellular PDA and use it off-network. Check ppcgeeks.com, they can "Un-verizon" the PDA very easily. |
