| Chicago Bar/Club ideas for Saturday
Alright So my brother is coming in on Sat and I want to take him out to a bar,club.. We have a group on 15-20 people coming.. So what do you guys think we should do? And if anyone has a hook up please let me know.

You could head down to division or wrigleyville and have your pick of just about any type of bar/club. |

I have lost track of all the good night clubs in the city. It's been 10-12 years since I've been to one. Used to go to CroBar, Gotham, Exclibur and then hit Baja Beach Club on weekends to pick up girls not women but girls since that is what they were. Quick and easy.
Used to hit a place up in Lincoln Park called Bambo Bernies. Jamaican themed had indoor beach volleyball. And then the place across the street can't remember the name but it had a big Elvis on the side of the building.
Damn I miss those days.

For us it was China Bar, Exit, Crowbar, Liars Club and a few others. Some aren't around any more and the others aren't what they were 15 years ago. Dennis Rodman single-handedly ruined crowbar when he was here with the Bulls. Don't even know if it's still there. |

I remember getting caught in the middle of a gang shootout at either CroBar or Excalibur. Which one did you have to walk down an alley way to get into? Anyway we had just walked out about 4am and shots started everybody hit the ground. I guess some banger got killed at least that is what they said on the news. We didn't stick around too long after that and maybe only went back one or two times after that because of the bangers were starting to pimp their shit in the club.

| That was CroBar (I spelled it wrong). On Fulton just over the North Avenue Bridge. Not sure when it became a banger bar though. I don't recall that, I just remember the tranny hookers hanging around outside. Was never a great area though. We started going when it first opened, before the strip club was next door. Originally it was more a "goth type" bar. NIN and that kind of stuff.
After Rodman came to Chicago and they started winning all those championships, He would go there all the time. Word soon got out and the place turned into a giant Dockers commercial with all the frat boys coming to see if he was there. Soon after the thumping "club music" started and we stopped going. |

| Yeah we were going when it was goth type bar with industrial type music. I don't remember a strip club next door, might have opened after we were going there. I know we stopped going well before Rodman came around.

IMO, the club scene is pretty lame these days... maybe because I'm older now... but most likely because it really is lame!
Good luck finding places to go...
If you want to take your brother out to eat, go to The Bristol. Excellent food that won't bust your belly, or wallet.

if you want to do the high-end route, le passage or hotel victor. be prepared to pay $200+ for a bottle of vodka if you want to sit down anywhere, though. Not quite so bad if you split it among a bunch of guys, but still more expensive than ordering drink for drink. More middle of the road would be enclave, sound bar, nv lounge. cro-bar is still up and running, don't know about the crowd, though. its on Kingsbury just south of North Ave. Right across the street from the 3rd largest Whole Foods in the world. You can close down cro-bar then get some organic oatmeal for breakfast.
