To add to what Simba said there are several companies that block ICMP, Microsoft (and their other divisions like msn.com) is one that does which is exactly why yours is failing out...To expect that cablevision will fix Microsoft from blocking ICMP is crazy talk.

Here we go again. Attached is a speedtest to Bresnan's Billings speedtest server, followed by a traceroute and a capture of my modem's stats at that time. Has been this way for a few hours. When I contacted support about my modem and several of my friend's modems in the area losing block sync at the exact same time they claimed it was because my line had a lot of noise on it and they 'weren't surprised I am having problems', however there is/was never any evidence of noise as far as I could tell. If they were looking at the US SNR most CMTS' as far as I know report the aggregate channel SNR/CNR and not a particular modem/connection. When I lose block sync, it changes frequencies between 111MHz DS, 23MHz US and 117MHz DS, 30.6MHz US, usually like clockwork between 00:30 and 01:30. Also at one time the config naming scheme that the CMTS offered changed, but again, according to Bresnan it is just me and I guess the rest is completely and 100% my modem controlling their CMTS. Cool, now where is the button to uncap my line again as it seems my modem is in complete control of the Butte network. /sarcasm

You're not the only one koolkid. Bozeman's having the same problems at the moment.

My modem goes down about once every 30 minutes for 10 seconds at a time. Reconnects back to the network and works again.

Pings are bouncy... very bouncy. Ranging from 100-800ms within seconds. Download / upload speeds on Sunday were 1.2mb/s down and 0.2mb/s up.

The Bresnan tech support said this is related to an upgrade they did last week. Their engineers are working on the problem, but they didn't have an ETA on the fix. Quite honestly, Bresnan was working better than normal for the past 4-5 months. Now we're back at square 1 again.

If it's still happening by Tuesday night, I'll be calling and asking for a refund for the month.

The large problems have went away. I'm still dealing with internet disconnects once every 30 minutes for 10-15 seconds each. The modem itself has the logs associated with it. Not sure if this is something on only my end, or on Bresnan's end.

When the modem reboots or reconnects does it change frequencies/channels?

That is the error i get. I'll have to to try and view the frequency / channel next time I see it go. Can a DD-WRT firmware from a router cause this?

Not likely, DHCP failed is probably the modem attempting to renew it's own local 10.x.x.x address, I forget exactly what the T3 timeout is but it isn't on your local side.

Not sure if this is what you are seeing but I am seeing a huge spike on Bresnan's edge towards Denver and with AT&T Worldnet when packets go by way of Seattle, which is in no way Bresnan's fault other than most traffic prefers Denver which Bresnan is having trouble with it would seem. Since Bresnan seems to only have the two paths out of their network most everything seems slow/bad right now.
