SteveConIBEW 2222 Boston, MAPremium join:2004-09-02 Boston, MA | It's a phone - not an fashion statement! Cameras, SMS, Web browsing, TV... who'd have thought that this would ever be desirable on a sub - 2 inch screen?? It's a phone; not a fashion statement.
Need directions? Call someone who knows how to get there instead of firing up your mobile web browser while driving 40, 50 or more MPH on the road - preferably BEFORE you leave. The same goes for texting - call instead of texting.. cell operators love the *huge* profits you provide them when you text. A voice call is more efficient method of communication than SMS. The driver of the other car you might have struck will be grateful to you for keeping your eyes on the road instead of the tiny screen.
Sure, there are *some* folks that need a lot of these services, but come on - it seems like nearly *everyone* has a pretty lofty perception of themselves given the number of these type phones that are sold. The ability to reliably place and complete a cell call wherever I am trumps anything else a cellphone can do. The network consistently get stellar marks for quality and reliability - isn't that what it's really all about? Keep the camera, web browser, qwerty keyboard, tv tuner, etc. off of my phone. Having 10 digit keys, power and send is really all I need - I bet the same holds true for the *vast* majority of the rest of you, too. -- UNIONS: The anti-theft device for working people.

In any regard, I think I am the only one in my part of the US who still uses an older LG flip phone with limited web capability and texting purposely disabled.
All those advanced features of the modern smartphone, while certainly required for some to support their jobs, are nothing more than tech candy for many. At this point I cannot justify the extra monthly fees for that candy.

| | | I tried to use my pure touch screen to text while driving. It is too hard. It was a breeze to use the Razr or enV while driving, though. | |

| | | No offense, but this is simply forward thinking or even today thinking...
These are things that are being used daily by millions of people and business need to get with the times.
| SteveConIBEW 2222 Boston, MAPremium join:2004-09-02 Boston, MA | I suppose I should applaud those of you with these devices & subscribing to these services. Some of the profits delivered to providers are also spent on deploying cell sites to more and more places. My $40 plan does everything I need it to - in more and more places.
