Gadeon how was your threat with that spec?
I have read in a number of spots about unholy's single target threat sucks as soon as you get people in raid gear.
Especially without RoR deep in unholy for the damage and expertise, and missing most disease boosts your gonna have some limp scourge strikes for threat I would think. |

Well tonight we are doing our 10 man ToC regular and Heroic modes. So I will find out more then. I didn't have any issues with a Frost DK (no subversion) and a geared deep destro Lock in our heroics. I understand things may be different come raid time. The expertise from further down in the Unholy tree is less than that of the VoTW. However, if I see any issues with threat, I have my deep Unholy tank spec ready to go as well. I suppose at this point only time will tell. |

And yeah I can understand that Scourage Strike may be a bit of a lost cause in terms of threat, but with my Avoidance being over 50% raid buffed, I seem to have Rune Strike available quite a bit. That tends to build me threat quite a bit, and I like it! |

I will definately give you guys an update tomorrow after our Raids tonight. That will give me a better indication of the success/failure of the spec when I have our top geared personnel there. Also, how do you figure out what ranking you are on your server for tanking? That I am a noob to. |

Hey guys I've been lurking for months reading this forum, and have tried to use the tips I have picked up while at work once I get home and log in.
My DK is Sotharian on Thorium Brotherhood he is my 3rd 80 so I really only have access to Heroics and Conquest Badge Gear for him.
Any spec or gear suggestions would be appreciated. |

Well my friend that is what this thread is for. Start on the first page and look at each of our specs. As a DK there is no WRONG spec, so find one you like, and run with it bud. |

Arch is right from a certain standpoint. There are proven specs for DPS thanks to math being done. All I am saying is do what makes you happy and helps your guild when you get end game. Some of these great specs are pointless if someone else has stats you can skip. And, I think Arch just doesn't like me.  |

You know, I've been thinking about this Subversion thing. I'm not getting that much out of Howling Blast rime procs and I'm blood for AoE stuff anyways, so maybe, I can yank some points out of Howling Blast and Rime, which would put me at 49 points. I'll need one more point to get myself up to 50 so I can benefit from the second to last tier points. Maybe I have room for UA afterall.
That'll put me at 0/50/18, which would leave me with 3 talent points to put into subversion. Thoughts?
Could also consider putting them into Unholy for a 0/50/21 build and get Unholy Blight. Rotation would have 1 Death Coil + FS dumpage. Interesting idea. Everything else stays the same with a 0/53/18 build, just dump howling blast, since it's garbage for single targets and either get subversion or look into Death coil + UB once per rotation followed by FS spam.

Arch to be honest, since I tank a lot, our frost DK is respecing today because of threat issues. You get a lot of crits, almost similar to a destro lock, and it really is hard for us to hold aggro sometimes. I have great roations and push out some damn good threat as well, but with no threat reduction, it does stink. Plus, you are still getting some additional Crit %. So you aren't really losing anything there. I would say no to DC because you want to use your Frost Strikes more I would think. |

| I can either do 3/3 Subversion, or I can pick up 2 points in Imp death Coil and get Unholy Blight.
Question is, is my threat that much of an issue yet? Not really. It's creeping up there and now that I have a better off-hand, it'll get worse, but it's not up there. Is it 6 or 9% +crit to Obliterate?
Is 9% crit to obliterate more damage than the dot that Unholy Blight would give?
The Unholy Blight, if I remember correctly, just applies a Dot and death coil spammage just resets that dot, so you'd only benefit from doing it once.
Either way, I'm sure both of those options are better than Rime/Howling Blast for my setup.

Unholy Blight - Causes the victims of your Death Coil to be surrounded by a vile swarm of unholy insects, taking 20% of the damage done by the Death Coil over 10 sec.
Rime - Increases the critical strike chance of your Icy Touch and Obliterate by 5% and casting Obliterate has a 5% chance to reset the cooldown on Howling Blast and cause your next Howling Blast to consume no runes.
BTW, the 15% crit to Icy Touch & Oblit is pretty big.
Edit: Not to mention I find HB a very fun spell to use. It also, when procced by killing machine does a ton of damage, even single target. It's no good unless you use a KM proc, but when you do it's nice.
Last Edit, I pomise: I don't think you want UB for a frost spec. You don't have many talents buffing Death Coil, unless you use Morbidity, which I don't. So your Death Coils are going to hit for way less than Frost Strikes and the UB portion isn't going to be that much either.
