Internationally

I wonder if you get one of these Devices and take it overseas and use it via high speed connection (dsl, cable, whatever). Would they still charge you outrageous roaming fees???

Re: Internationally

If it is anything like the verizon one it will not work. The verizon one has a GPS chip that checks where it is at, if its not in the US or cant get a signal it wont work.

I dont know what ATT's will do but i suspect it will have a similar feature.

This device can't be used overseas, since other wireless carriers would be transmitting on those frequencies.

Most of these devices use GPS to determine what frequency to transmit on, or to shut down completely due to being in an unauthorized area.

You're probably right with the GPS thing, but frequencies in here in North America for UMTS/HSDPA are different than elsewhere -- I don't think a 850/1900 AT&T would conflict, say, with Europe and 900/2100
