| Comstar router - How to use as a repeater?
I'm getting nowhere. I think I need some "handholding".
I'll lay it out more fully:
1. Router One. Linksys WRT54G hooked up to the internet cable modem. This is the main router and the internet router.
2. Router Two. Comstar wireless "N" Router. Want it to relay the signal from the Linksys to other parts of the house. That's this modem's job.
Setup Wizard:
When I go into the configuration of the Comstar, I can choose Gateway, Bridge or Wireless ISP. Which?
Then WAN interface, options are Static IP, DHCP Client, PPPoE, PPTP or L2TP. Which?
Wireless Basic Settings, options are AP, Client, WDS or AP WDS. Which? if Client, options are Infrustructer or Ad Hock. Which? Then there's "Enable Mac Clone (Single Ethernet Client)" checkbox. Yes or No?
Then Encryption options WPA2 and WPA2 Mixed. (I'm using this as a G network). Which?
That's the end of the Setup Wizard. Then? |

| I see no hint this product was ever intended to be a repeater, I can't find a manual online, (I have no model number) but none of the ads I do find mention any repeater capability.
Very few routers CAN be a repeater, it is rare and hard to find.
Your Linksys WRT54G cannot be a repeater as delivered, for example, although third party software exists that can make many revisions of the Linksys WRT54G capable of acting as a repeater.

| reply to hagbard72 Oh I forgot, if all you wanted was to run a wire from the first Router to the second router, to use both as Wireless Access Points (and repeater was a incorrect buzzword) then this post may help, it tells how to demote a router to a WAP

In your case I cant get a manual online even with the model number, in no case can I get one without a model number. So there is never any hope of helping without it. -- I tried to remain child-like, all I achieved was childish. |
