That said, running everything over IP all the way to regional data centers is MUCH flatter/easier than doing voice switching at the CO etc. |

Charlotte, NC | The land line will still be there but it will be Uverse or Fios and VOIP. The old switched office is on the way out but you still need a connect point even for ethernet based networks.
Many of the landlines are already on FTTN networks if you are more then a mile from the CO at least in the old Bell South region your POTs line travels over a digital connection part of the way. |
