Re: MS Exc: Vista in "less good product" said by Metatron2008:And this is why all you do is remove rootkits. The xp you love has security holes up the wazoo. And if I just removed the engine from my van, I'd get terrific gas mileage.
Just out of curiosity, which one of those things I mentioned brought me meaningfully increased protection from drive-by rootkit insertions?

2 edits | None, but your 'improvements' were highly biased to begin with. At the very least you could mention real improvements if you wanted, like added security, better memory management, and save the whining for windows 7.
Which if you old enough to remember, every time an OS comes out from Microsoft, people whine that it sucks until they get used to it... This has happened for every major OS I remember... And I used a commodore 64 at 4-5 years old (now 30).
Windows 7 is about to be released. I'm not sure why you guys are whining about Vista and still spreading FUD about Vista when it's time to do it for 7... |

This time I'll use small words and diagrams.

said by Noah Vail:If all of Vista's problems could be summed up in one sentence, that'd be it. Here's a short list of Vista 'improvements'. and then I listed some stuff.
With me so far? Good!
The topic is that too many things in Vista changed for no appreciable reason. I called those things 'problems'.
Neither djrobx nor I were trading remarks on security, or fud, or Windows 7, or Wazoo (whatever country that's in).
We were simply discussing changes that resulted in reduced functionality in the OS without bringing any understandable benefit.
See?
So the reason our conversation didn't satisfy your requirements on the security aspects of Vista, is because we weren't having a discussion on the security aspects of Vista.
There. I'm sure you're as gratified as I that we could get this little matter all cleared up.
Cheers!
