YOU CANNOT SUPPRESS the TRUTH FOREVER.

Art is meant to be shared.
One day 100 years form now they will look back on these people and be disgusted that culture was allowed to be controlled like this. People involved might even be (almost) called traitors to there own countries.
A) if it's MY art then I have a right to charge you for it. If you ever develop the ability to create something you'll finally get that.

B) So movie studios are supposed to spend $150 mil making a movie the "share" it with the world for FREE? They're supposed to go bankrupt proving you with free entertainment? Where is the incentive to make more movies, music, TV shows etc? Do YOU work for free?

if its art you should not charge for it as since the dawn of mankind HUMANS have shared art and science and knowledge

are you saying that you wish to control knowledge and science and art and culture, buy way of making me pay fo rthe extension of human evolution and culture?

If so you sir are a sad case for a human being and i highly suggest you go BUY a copy of carl sagans "COSMOS"

and watch the last two episodes very very closely.
I want you to look up "maps of 1513" on Google and find out about a map made from "other ancient sources" that showed the antarctic free of ice to a precision that was not available technologically until 1958. Look up longitudes.

I want you to know of the library of Alexandria where the opposite of copyright was used to make many wonderful advancements, that because of religion and doctrine such as yours were burnt and NOT rediscovered for almost 1100 more years.

Tnaks to control of knowledge aka copyright were are fast entering another dark age of mankind and if you and your kind do not see that sharing is and of it self the best reward, then you are no worse then the Spanish whom destroyed the Aztec culture or the people that burnt the Alexandrian library. Like linux at first the new movies and music might not be full of grand quality but almost all of the special effects Hollywood can do I SIR CAN DO....given more time. IF your rational were true then Linux would not exist.

Perhaps it is time for the equivalent of open source movies and music to begin in a true form.

What does 50 year copyright do for the citizens of today but make for laziness. What do I or any artist truly need a distribution house for music and art. When we have the internet at our finger tips , charge what you can get , for ye shall get no more.

---------------
btw if you start out with the thought that money = prime motive for your art it cannot be called art, it is thusly called a product and if you can't sell it then it is worth nothing.
----------------
here is an example of the future of advertising as an example of open sourcing your ads to get more people to advertise similarly for example.

I could charge my guests for the air they breath while they're in my house but that's not practical. Since no one can control optics or sound waves DRM is fundamentally not enforceable. It doesn't mean you can't try -- it just means the people who get it for free are going to do it anyway. Why hurt your legitimate customers who want to give you money in the process?

B) So movie studios are supposed to spend $150 mil making a movie the "share" it with the world for FREE?
They'll have to adapt. Big budget movies still turn huge profits even with piracy factored in. We're mostly talking about theoretical profit being lost but that doesn't factor in the number of people who will download the content for free but would not otherwise pay for it. That's exactly why, despite huge piracy numbers, the US film industry isn't going bankrupt. Consumers won't change their habits until they see some real impact on the quality and quantity of media being produced. In the music industry there has been an explosion of content due to cheap production and easy promotion -- again despite piracy. The film industry will have to figure out how to work this new model or other people will develop extreme-low budget / shockingly high quality films and undercut them. We're already starting to see it with original online video. If it takes a few guys $4k to make a pretty good little short there's no reason it should take Hollywood $40M to produce a mediocre generic summer comedy. This movement is still in its infancy but I think we could all agree we've seen random $0 YouTube videos that were pretty entertaining. It's where things are heading for better or worse.

Piracy IMO is a correction to an industry that was out of control.

yes you can ask for 1 billion for you music, but as i and others have said culture is priceless and to that extent i would argue that your attempt at monetizing civilization to bankruptcy is not going to advance mankind. Let me put it this way, lets say tomorrow aliens land on earth are you gonna charge them for your tunes? HOW would they feel about us as a race for such practices of culture and knowledge.....

and as aposter above said with open source tools and some patience and a bit a skill i can do a ton of the high end special affects so whats the big dal with that 150 million $ movie when the 30,000 spent on the blair witch project made them a huge box office take.
