anon : It is more likely that Verizon Wireless would throttle your connections speeds down to near dial-up if you continually exceed 5GB of data usage per month. Verizon would rather have you dissatisfied than threatening to sue. Even if you wanted to file a lawsuit, you could not file one because you abdicated those rights when you agreed to become part of Verizon Wireless as a direct result of the merger. It's in the contract...

streakolean : thanks for the reply, yep i'm aware of the "grandfathering" and i have material from alltel stating that my service wouldnt change after the sale. I was just curious if anyone had been billed for the excess in errror and how difficult or easy it was to have corrected. sorry, guess i wasnt too clear about that in my orig post.

streakolean : got a verizon ad in the mail today and among other things it stated the fee per meg over the 5gig cap was reduced from .25 to .05. I'm curious, have any of you that were with alltel no cap and were taken over by verizon exceeded 5 gigs in a month since the take over? if so were you only billed 59. or did they charge you for the excess? i was over the cap in july but verizon was in charge only part of the month. i was over slightly in aug but havent recd that bill yet.

51. per gig over the cap is pretty expensive surfing, it does beat the 256. per gig over that they were charging. i hope my math is accurate.

.05 x 1024 = 51.20 .25 x 1024 = 256.
