 | [Modding] CCFL tape? Is there such a thing? Something very thin that could take being walked on or other such pressure? I could have sworn that years ago I saw something being advertised.
We have a house with a lot of 1-2 steps up/down and I'd like to put CCFL tape down and rig up the inverter under the stairs if possible. -- I am the Flying Photog, see my website accordingly named Flyingphotog.com. User known formerly as zakooldude. |

 | Right, but it's cold cathode, correct? |

 | Anyway, you're right; it's what I need. I could put it under the ledge of each stair and then it wouldn't get stepped on. |

They can be powered by AA batteries, 9 volt alkaline battery, 12 volt DC or 110 V A/C inverters. »www.glowhut.com/el-inverter.html
I don't know anything about the products or the company but someone from a telescope group I subscribe to linked to this site. They used an EL panel to make a light box for taking flat frames for astrophotography. -- mbsastronomy.com |

| reply to DavisPhotog I believe that EL wire DOES Fluoress as Cold Cathode Fluorescent lights do, but I don't think they are Gas at a Vacuum filled. Thus, as stated, they are different things. You wouldn't want a CCFL anywhere that you could break it, they contain Mercury and possibly other heavy/nasty substances.
LED lighting is the future, it's the best choice if you can afford it. Eventually, most home lighting with be done with LEDs, they use less than a fifth the juice of incandescent, even 1/10 of it. -- Join Teams Helix and Discovery.
