Re: Yeap Verizon is stuck in the early 2000's VOICE service said by tempnexus:I got Verizon BlackBerry and LG Touch and it's utterly useless. You can't browse the web since most of the web is broken. It's a test in frustration. Any apps you want to install on LG Touch must be from Verizon and locked down. It comes down to me using HI Tech Verizon phones just for Voice since any other function is Abysmal! First, if you can make calls, it isn't useless. As far as a smartphone (especially BlackBerry) goes, email is second most important for business and most personal users. Both work great in most areas on Verizon. I'm not saying they are the best everywhere, but they are pretty good overall... better than anyone else around here, especially now that they acquired Alltel.
Web browsing actually works fine on the new BlackBerry devices. I haven't actually found a page that wouldn't load properly. That being said, I do usually opt for the mobile versions of the sites, since they are better formatted for a smartphone screen, even if it has a good full HTML browser.
The enhanced multimedia phones are not smartphones, and should not be expected to be on the same level. They cost less, and their plans cost less. They are optimized for voice first, and some basic video or music playback... not much else. |
