1 edit | [CATV]... Bethlehem Township Crush. Now a few questions...
I received my postcard yesterday. October 20 is when the Crush hits my neighborhood off of Freemansburg Avenue. I made my installation appointments last Thursday for October 2. They had an appointment on the September 31 but I can't swing the time. I'm going with two cable cards.
A few questions:
I am being charged for the install of the cable cards but the post card says that installation of cable boxes because of the crush is free. Should I call them back?
Do I need to "activate" HD on my account or is that accomplished just by using the cable cards? |

1 edit | You'll get all the 'free' HD channels via the CableCard (free ones are like CBS, NBC, FOX, ABC, etc -- check the rcn lineup page for the full list of included HD).
Also, you may or may not be able to go to Avenue C and pick up the Cable Cards. I know they are pretty weird over there wrt giving out boxes, not sure if Cable Cards are any different. It's worth a shot though. Just be firm about it and say you have 'filters' already installed on your line (for some reason they make up this story that each line has to have a filter attached to it for the boxes to work lololol).

| reply to alershka I had a cable card in a tv, and I don't remember being charged for installation. Also, just having the cablecard does not mean you're getting the HD tier programming. I had the cablecard and did not get channels like HDNet, which were part of the HD tier. I do get them now that I'm renting an HD box, which puts me into the HD tier. Remember, RCN advertises, "FREE HD - with the rental of an hd box" |

Remember, RCN advertises, "FREE HD - with the rental of an hd box" HDNet used to be in the HD tier package, however, it's been moved from that package to the DigitalVision package. So as long as you have DigitalVision (I'm sure most do) you should be getting HDNet on your CableCard TVs even if you don't have a HD box in the house.
I know when they flipped it from the pay plan I had to call and go through a bunch of hoops before someone knew about the switch and how to add the codes without making a charge on my bill.
