Re: word is in RIAA is trying to brainwash people When will the RIAA, ASCAP or the Girl Scouts and/or Boy Scouts of America sue the Value Voters for using Irving Berlin's music, God Bless America, without receiving permission from his estate or paying for the use of the music? Irving wrote it to celebrate how proud he was to be an American. If he were alive today he would not be to happy. What most people do not know is that all royalties for the use of that song and words go to the Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts of America. When are the Value Voters going to pay up and if they don't, when are the copyright control agencies going to take legal action for copyright infringement? |

| The copyright control agency, shakedowns have been in use long before internet access was widespread. Under the copyright rules the only way a business can play a radio, without violating copyright law, is through the radio's own speaker.
If a business connects a tuner to their public address system for background music they must obtain a license (Usually for about $25.00 Per Year) from the station they are rebroadcasting.
If a business is discovered to be rebroadcasting music through their public address system or music on hold feature of their telephone system the copyright cops will send them a demand letter. The letter is similar to the ones sent to persons downloading unlicensed music via the internet. Most businesses would simply pay the fee and write it off. Unfortunately ordinary citizens cannot write off such settlements. |
