You will just have to buy the device. for some people who live and die by their cell, this is certainly an option. i just don't like paying $150 on top of my monthly internet subscription for a device thats eating my minutes anyway.
for that same $150, i can receive ~2000 minutes of month of calling for 20 months using a byod voip provider. even if you don't have the ata, if you subtract the $50 it would cost you, you're still looking at over a year's worth of service.
plus, you don't have the aggravation of dealing with a greedy ilec, which is always a win in my book.
