| [SERIOUS] Time to turn in your Specialty License Plate.
"as of Oct. 1, the money consumers pay for the specialty plates will no longer be used for its intended purpose. Beginning next month, those fees, as well as fees for specialty license plates promoting Greenways and Wildlife Conservation, will be diverted into the states general treasury." "More than 140,000 of those license plates can be seen daily on Connecticut roads."

"Acting DEP Commissioner Amey Marella said that motorists should keep buying the Long Island Sound plates, which range in price from $50 for an off-the-shelf license, to $70 for a vanity plate and $100 for a special "LIS" designation followed by three numbers."
LOL @ Amey -- I've come here to chew bubblegum and kick ass and i'm all outta bubblegum. |

| reply to Harddrive Hooray! More money into the black hole of unaccountability known as the "General Fund".
On a similar note, I see our lovely state has increased a lot of fees as of late. The news caught wind of this and stated the cost of "Staycations" will go up. Maybe the state can change the tagline to "Paycations: Go no where, do nothing, pay more..." -- Drill Here. Drill Now. Pay Less. |

"HARTFORD, Conn. - Attorney General Richard Blumenthal on Wednesday asked the governor for an accounting of funds from specialty state license plates, saying at least $500,000 has been illegally diverted to Connecticut's General Fund to help balance the state's troubled budget." |

| From that same article: "Blumenthal raised similar concerns earlier this month about how money had been transferred from the "Preserve the Sound" license plate account. Money from that account has help to finance nearly 300 education and conservation projects affecting Long Island Sound since the fund was created in 1993.
Last week, lawmakers restored funding to the program when they passed a bill that spells out details of the state budget." -- HCN: Because you deserve a rest!

| Surprised the you know what out of me that the money is now going where it's supposed to. I'd give Blumenthal a few more ounces of credit if he went after the gasoline taxes and demanded those go towards highway/road funding. But I'm not holding my breath. -- Drill Here. Drill Now. Pay Less. |
