| This post on the other thread sounds definitive It didn't sound that way to me. Rather, it sounded as if the limitation applied only to a special version of this, and probably would not apply to a more typical upgrade version.

clubs: | If we're talking upgrades, the way it appears is that you can BOOT from the DVD, but there has to be a valid OS present and installed on the hard drive to get the install to work. |

For XBL2009 and Irish Shark - were you able to successfully activate after doing the "clean double install" with the upgrade disc? I believe that's really what inquiring minds want to know.

If you have your ICH9R in normal ACHI (non-RAID) mode, you want these drivers: »downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_···lang=eng

I bet if you look at the drivers you have installed now they'll say Intel anyway.

| Well i tried installing the windows 7 upgrade from microsoft, by doing a standalone installation. It would get near the end of installation and give me an error. Then i got to reading this thread and figured out you have to first have an operating system installed with activation. So i went back an installed windows vista home premium and then within the operating system did a clean install of windows 7 home premium and it's now working great. |

You need an SSD to break 5.9. Even my 10k RPM Raptor only scores a 5.9.
