Sounds like something went wrong.... in a good way. I don't think the rep did anything wrong, since most of the changes are made automatically. You could do two Setups.
SD Box =250KB down
HD Box =750KB down
HighSpeed =300KB down
"control? =100KB Down(i don't know about this)

=1400KB (14MBIT out of 15MBIT)

OR

SD Box =250KB down
SD Box =250KB down
SD Box =250KB down
HighSpeed =300KB down
"control? =100KB Down(i don't know about this)

=1150KB (11.5MBIT used out of 15MBIT)

TECHNICALLY with 3SD STB's you COULD GET 450KB Down on the HighSpeed Internet, but Telus WILL NOT DO THIS :(. So yeah.

100KB is left over for qualify and depending on how far you are from the telus box stuff you wont get all of the 15MBIT.

I just recently switched to Telus TV and noticed that when both TV's are on my download speed on my computer (tested through speedtest.net) is 60kbps and when I have no TV's on it was 300kbps. So I phoned in and talked to the tech's, fiddled around with things on the phone for 2 hours with them. They finally said they were going to upgrade me to an "HD Line" for free which they said would provide more bandwidth. (This will not be done for 24 hours though)

So my questions are to anyone that might know, How fast should i expect my internet to be?, and will this mean I will be getting HD channels through my Telus TV aswell for free aswell?

The system will NOT allow the boxes to be registered together. Only one group can be on the account at one time.

I'm glad we were able to confirm. The boxes will NOT work together.

I borrowed an old IP1000 and IP1100 box from a friend on the way home tonight...Lets just say it was not a flying success... More like an absolute case of rejection...Or maybe even a complete nose dive with complete engine failure...Oil leakage and all.

And there is a simple reason why.,.. The reg codes....It's very obvious the reg codes for imagic system are different in some way than the codes used for the Minerva system...

If you had proper reg codes generated from both systems. I don't see any reason why the boxes could not exist on the same dsl line... That all being said my gut feeling is the virtual pathways on the backend of connection might also be different between the 2 systems.. Not 100% sure on that...

My service suffered no harm and I did happen to gain just a but more in-site into a couple things in the process...

All in all I think that puts this to bed.

Got a SAIPN430MC and SAIPN330HD

I'm going to gave back the SD Thompson to the friend i got it from.

So in total I spent 200 bucks for 2 HD box's and 1 PVR. Not bad :).

I KNOW I KNOW, i coulda rented or gone on a contract. I don't like either option. I know this time Telus might not be 100% but coming soon enough it will be. So I rather just own the hardware now, just had to say that.

I had numerous TTV Tech line people go over this with me and one of the department managers for TTV.

2.Yeah, I was told the IP1100 could work with SA box's by techsupport on TTV side and LnR. we shall see or perhaps one of the telus people here can test and verify lol.

Tech came out and fixed my Port for ADSL and my Internet is BACK UP working!!! (only 3.0 profile now)(TEMP)

Now i wait till the 17'th for my install of TTV. Was suppose to be on the 7'th.. But due to callcenter they somehow canceled my order and it had to be redone... now 17'th... lame..

I just noticed I already have two Telephone lines coming to my house. Installers going to have nothing to do but a tiny bit of work with adding a plug and calling in my box's

Unless you purchase your equipment from Telus, you won't get a registration code for the Telus end of things to accept your equipment.

It may be possible that equipment you purchase from someone on craigslist will work, but I don't think it will.

Each STB or PVR requires a valid registration code to work.
Telus is where you get the registration code.
Telus provides the installer with the registration code.
A registration code is generated when you rent or buy equipment from Telus.

So, I think you went and purchased equipment from someone else and you might have just paid for nothing - I hope you have a way of getting your money back from the craigslist guy if it does not work.

Same thing goes for if you wish to sell equipment you purchased from Telus - how will your buyer get a valid registration code?

If you are unsure of the quality (a very valid concern) of the Telus service, get it on MTM and pay the $5 rental fee for the equipment. Try out the service. If it's good, keep it - if not cancel. No cancel fee on MTM.

Take your own advice, do a little research before handing out your hard earned money, even to someone on craigslist who tells you it'll work.

I hope it does work for you.
In the end, the installer has the last say - you might be able to get a registration code for your third party equipment.

Thing is, if Telus provided codes for equipment purchased elsewhere, who is responsible for troubleshooting if it fails?

As for the IP1000 boxes mixed with the 330A boxes - I don't think that would work either.

I think someone is selling you old technology - there's a reason why no deposit fee is assigned to the IP1000 boxes, they have no value from a business perspective.

I can easily get an ip1000 box... Do you want me to try and swap it out with one of my SA boxes and see what happens... I have a gut feeling that the way the C/O and Telus offices are provisioned might be very different than a customer actual dsl line... I have my reg codes.. and I am not to worried about wrecking any thing... It's already hacked to pieces...

My gut feeling is when the provisioning is done on the customers line most likely one or the other is choosen... Where as at the C/O or a Telus office the way the provisioning system interacts with the same hardware may be very different..

This is one time I would to have TierX See Profile jump in..

I'm not trying to be rude, but when it comes to Television service I am not 100% certain about Telus IPTV, YET.

For my Television service I may switch back to Shaw if this does not work out nicely. I figured worst case I would sell my TTV STB's I bought. I'd get a cheap deal for resign up with Shaw. It's in my benefit to at least TRY Telus TV service.

Clowns, i was referring more to Shaw who keeps raising their damn TV rates well they make record profits and has it's fair share of other issues.

Telus also for its outsourcing of Canadian workers and many other things. The telecommunication oligopolies in Canada sicken me...

My BCTEL/Telus home phone account has been active for over 30 years...
We got our DSL back in the BC Tel Days.(I switched once for 1.5 years due to way less value of service. They fixed that now I'm back with telus)
I have had mobile phones from telus/Bctel since the 90's (3X lines)

Telus wouldn't want to lose us as a customer just because i try TTV and it dose not measure up.

so yeah...

I guess if the thompson 1100T does not work i will just buy another box SA330 off someone. owell i lost 40 bucks worst case.

I actually have another person selling for 50 :) so yeah ill get it this week just incase i geuss. If Thompson works i will sell the extra SA330.

Boxes are able to see either middleware. We have TTV with a Thompson box in our office. I plugged in some SA STBs to update the firmware a few weeks ago, they see Minerva and bootup fine. I got tired of waiting for the firmware at the customer's houses, so I thought it would be better to update them while I got my jobs.

I don't know if a CSR is actually able to issue reg codes on both systems.

I would watch the attitude... Your going quickly loose any help you might get here...

Also if you start threating to leave a lot. Or start swapping back and forth a lot... You might be surprised how quickly they will be more than happy to just cancel your account and say be gone... Not even trying to keep you as customer.... And you might get an even worse surpise if you decided you wanted to come back... All though it's un-usual for them to do such a thing they do have the right to not have you as a customer for internet and TV or mobility service.... It's not an essential service and they can deny it...

I am month to month.
If TTV sucks I can opt to go back in 60 days with Shaw and get another 6 months of cheap service. On the other hand if i like TTV, i can enjoy 7months of cheap service and again go back to shaw with a resign up discount price.

The 1100 is not used (cannot be used) for any new installs... basically you now have a brick.. total cost to you 150.00... why? You can't even sell it to someone else and have a clean conscious. Even if they currently use an ip1000 or ip1100 if they want any additional boxes (or need one repaired) they'd get them swapped to the new models anyways.

The current cancellation fee is 10.00/mo for the remainder of your term. You said that you don't want a PVR.. you could have had 2 sa 330's on a 2 yr term. Worst case cancellation fee 230.00 best case 0.00... If you had kept the service for 8 months and paid your cancellation fee you would have broken even.

I COULD buy the PVR for 200 used but i don't see the point. I don't need it. Rather torrent my TV shows. Also i dont like the way the telus pvr works so meh.

Telus has my home phone/internet 100%.

Home Phone=21$ (one calling feature/basic home line)
Internet 6MEG=20 (perma price)(getting second run installed also like you guys suggested)

Home TV=54$ for watchalot under the bundle pricing. Very good price.

Telus rocks! Just have to deal with retarded CSR's and so on. hmmm... definitely spending money or taking the chance and paying a cancellation fee that's LESS than purchasing the boxes, and possibly not paying any cancellation charge (if you keep the service).
Customers always say... "shaw doesn't have cancellation fees or contracts" THAT'S BECAUSE YOU PAY IT UP FRONT!!!!!!! You have you buy the freaking hardware. You're not going to cancel after you pay 400-600 for a pvr.

If you get it setup right it can be the best deal in B.C by far. With that in mind you have to know it's limitations and how to semi work around them.

IE:
Buy you're own box's (NO CONTRACTS THEN :P)
Get two lines to you're house.
1 for TV/Phone
1 for ADSL.
You would still get the bundle price!!

Before getting Telus TV, a good idea is to call in and verify you're area has HD. In you're case no HD, so an area without the newest upgrades or no open ports left.

Sluggy, call Loyalty department. Explain how you have been lied to and firmly but nicely demand a second run for the ADSL or you're going to cancel. They should do this for you. IT will take a bit of time but in the long run it is worth the hassle in my opinion.

Here is what happened.
I called in at first to regular highspeed support in the Philippines. The guy was talking with whoever above them and said they would get it fixed. I was on hold and got disconnected.

I called back to the same highspeed support line and just got frustrated with the front line support from the Philippines. She told me someone from higher up would call me back latter and my order for TTV has been canceled. I TOOK OFF A DAY FROM WORK FOR TELUS AND THESE idiots cancel my order and i lose my install DATE. GRATE just GREAT.
She claimed they can not trace who canceled the order? I was getting very pissed and asked to be sent to LNR, she asked for a reason i just said because i need to speak with them i don't want to be offensive to you.

LnR and i spoke. The guy was great. I got everything i wanted setup.
Existing line for TTV/Phone
NEW line for 6Meg Internet.

I get to keep it under the bundle price plus the permanent discount i get. So only 20$ per month for High Speed 6 meg. I got the same deal i was offered from last the canceled TTV order. The first month free and 6months 20 bucks off on TTV and all channels but movies/world stuff for first month.

Only lame thing is i have to call back tomorrow for the order to go though because there is one still in the system for me. But LnR assured me it is all ready for tomorrow.

As for Telus Satellite TV. I would not get it. I do not want a satellite dish on my house. Plus the TTV Watch a lot bundle for 54$ under bundle pricing is the best. It beats satellite tv options. Costs way more for satellite. I don't need any of the other HD channels besides Essential HD and Sports.

Now i wont mind getting a D-link Modem for TTV and i will swap my siemens for the speed touch! Lol I am a tiny bit frustrated that my internet is down but in the long run this should all workout nice.

Now I just need this craigslist guy to hurry up with my third telus STB, lol.

I wonder if I could get 1HD, 2SD provisioned seeing how i wont have a 3MEG internet connection on my line with TTV.

There's no actual place/dept to go to increase your odds. It's not official policy that it's done this way.. and since we have Sat TV now, it's not recommended any more, even by me. The only time I've done this recently is for customers that are in Apt/condo buildings as we can't do sat tv in those locations. If you do get it done, bundle prices should still apply.

How do you go about getting Telus to do this? Front line reps wont do anything. Do you talk with Loyalty and Retentions department?

My TTV install is on December 7'th so I have time to get that worked out. Rather have it setup with two lines so i can get 6MBPS internet still IF POSSIBLE.

I know that fore-sure you can not due 3 STB with HD... The bandwidth just is not there....

As for your question about what profile they will use with three SD STB's. It might be the 15 meg. That being said there is a 10 meg profile that does exist... Not sure if they use it at all but the scripts are in the system...

They simply have different port profiles for different service plans and don't let their IPTV service steal bandwidth from their internet service and vice versa. This can be implemented on the dslam, or at the aggregation layer through policy management.
