many people view gift cards as money in the bank, as a result they tend to put them aside for another day, The only problem is that, the other day has an expiration date and the companys that issue these types of rebates/refunds hope that you will forget and thus they have actually never give you a rebate at all, Corporate america at its best..

If I remember correctly, there was some regulatory correction about gift cards that ended up changing... full fee and expriation date disclosure must be made to the end consumer EVEN IF delivered by a 3rd party. Also, many of these cards, if they are through a bank that took government money are supposed to play by a whole new set of consumer friendly rules, such as having NO EXPIRATION date on these kinds of gift cards. Store gift cards are a whole 'nother deal, because if the store goes bankrupt.. well, say adios. Keep that in mind if you do any of those christmas savings club things with the likes of Kmart/Sears this holiday season and they go belly up.

How does Comcast compete in the same footprint as Verizon with FIOS deployed? On the one hand, you pay 10-15% less just to be slapped in the face with a 250gb cap.. many customers will probably just pay the higher fee not to end up dealing with an inconsiderate corporate policy. The cap is like going to the mall, but they have no place to park your car.

Comcast competes by currently offering things that FIOS doesn't (such as slowing the spectrum-reclamation plan in FIOS areas; that way those that actually have TVs that have ClearQAM don't need STBs if they have Digital Starter or less, in most cases). Not needing STBs is very big in some households, especially given the lease fees that both Comcast and VZ charge on a per-TV basis; while VZ charges less for programming, you get whacked with not just higher STB lease fees, you need an STB on every TV. In quite a few Comcast systems in FIOS areas, digital-reclamation has not taken effect yet (I live in Prince George's County, in Maryland, and we have DOCSIS 3.0, but though we went ADS prior to FIOS getting deployed, there has been no analog-spectrum reclamation yet). With Comcast, we have just two STBs (one full-sized DCT-22xx, and one DCT-7xx). Cap-busting happens; however, usually there are reasons WHY it happens that go beyond the pale for a residential service.
