Re: While Time Warner drags it's feet said by RR User :
For those keeping track, current number of homes passed by DOCSIS 3.0 service by end of this year is:
Comcast: approx. 32,000,000 homes/businesses
Time Warner: approx. 0 homes/businesses
Looking good there, Time Warner. Keep up the good work. Yeah, but they've had those fiber optics in their system for years... TW could be known as the new AOL pretty soon.. they're even falling behind AT&T even with crappy deployments... although we hear in the next 3 months, NYC is supposed to come online with Docsis 3.0... we all wait with bated breath and the shoe to drop with a $300+ surcharge to activate the 3.0 speed tier. |

 | Once TW deploys DOCSIS 3.0 here (NC), sometime around the year 2021, I get to look forward to getting either their standard 50M/384K tier, or the 100M/512K tier. I can't wait.
AT&T technically offers the fastest speed here, soon to be 24M/2M
TW remains locked at 10M/512K
I remember a time once when TW was actually fiercely competitive. |

 | Which is why I don't understand how come TW won't bring 15/2 to this area, since we now have U-verse.
There are plenty of places around the country where TW is offering 15 down and 1-2 megabits up and they didn't even need to deploy DOCSIS 3.0 to do it.
I can have all the downstream speed in the world but with a choked upload, it doesn't do me any good. |
