Seriously, what do you (AT&T) do with the $30 I send you every month???

Music seller? The slowly collapsing music industry now makes you a king of media?

And other devices that handle media? You mean the same way pcs handle media, or things like Wii, Xbox 360, PS3?

The only thing Apple is king of is overpricing things.
Obviously I can't argue with ignorance.

Ignorance? You mean the same ignorance that got me a core i7 920, 6 gigs ram, and a asus p6t system with 2 1tb drives (1 internal, 1 external), at microcenter/newegg for less then $1,000 versus the $2,400 price for the same system on a Mac Pro?

Except the Mac Pro had worse ram and smaller hard drive.

If you count my entire system (Antec 900 case, $200 gtx 260), the amount comes to around $1600.

If that's ignorance, then what is not?

The Mac Pro doesn't use an i7, it uses the Nehalem Xeon which are close to $1000 alone.

Whatever. Last I looked at a Mac Pro they used the i7 processors.

And the fact that the Mac Pro uses A Xeon that is EXACTLY THE SAME as my 1366 but has ECC or support for multiple cpus is not helping your point.

How is Apple "King of Media" when it took them 3 years to enable the most basic multimedia feature on cell phones for over a decade? The Multimedia Message. Of course, leave it to Apple fankids to forget that, and only point the blame at ATT (which happily allows MMS for everyone else).
It's simple. It's not an apple issue. I had MMS on my 2g iphone, I have MMS on my 3g iphone. It has nothing to do with the phone, its ATT...thats why "apple fankids" point to ATT.
And friends on ATT had MMS on their nokias and motorolas and samsungs for years, and continue to have them. On ATT. Hrmm, so it seems like that's not ATT's "lack of support".
Are you really under the impression the iphone hasn't supported MMS because of Apple? Do you see Apple mentioned in this article? Is Apple the ones running the MMSC servers? Is apple also operating on the side as a MMS aggregator that no one but you is aware of?
Ahh, yes the fankid comes out. The fact that ATT had to use a 3rd party solution for the iPhone (which is partially to blame for this mess) is apparently irrelevant. The first 2 years that the iPhone didn't support MMS was fine, but god forbid ATT have issues manually resetting people's iPhone-tagged accounts to direct messages back to the phones a few months after Apple (in their infinite wisdom) finally supports a standard that's been around for over a decade.
You do realize MMS is set in the CARRIER profile right? Last I checked Apple was not the carrier anymore than Motorola is a carrier.
And last I checked, the carrier (ATT) supports MMS on every other device.

If ATT was so concerned about data issues from MMS (which your iphone fanboi blogs like to contend), they could simply do what most network operators do: restrict the content size. downrez photos to 640x480, and limit video to 30 seconds (only on the 3gs of course, the first 2 iphones apparently can't do that very basic multimedia feature either).

Is ATT partially at fault for all of this? Yes. Is Apple? YES.

Only you fankids think that Apple's infallible hands are clean of this mess.
Exactly my point that I have been trying to get across for about a year now. When AT&T said that there will not be MMS/TXT support on the iPhone - Apple should have turned around and thrown a fit and alerted the customers and setup ways to complain to AT&T. Or even better, create their own text messaging service...if they can build an OS I am fairly certain they can build something as trivial as a text messaging service. But Apple did NOTHING and sat back and let the money roll in. I don't understand why people support them? I mean I would only support a company who in turn supports the customer. Also, Apple has basically labeled a good chunk of its user base as criminals. Now, that to me is a slap in the face if I ever saw one. But yet people keep buying Apple products *sigh*.

You could be thinking "well it's not the companies responsibility to lead a petition" - it damn well is. Look at Dish network when the main provider of programming wanted to raise the rates? Dish Network said FU to them and instead of raising the rates by $1 I believe it was only raised about half that after everything was said and done. »www.extremetech.com/article2/0,2···6,00.asp

If Apple was going to sign with any CDMA provider, it'd probably be Sprint, especially given the fact that they've really turned that company around over the last year or so. I have both Sprint and AT&T, and the customer service I receive from Sprint is leaps and bounds above AT&T. I had some signal issues when I got my Sprint phone, but they just put up a new tower down the street, and the network is zoooooooming fast (for wireless). If I could get Sprint's data speeds with AT&T's local call quality, that'd be the perfect wireless service.
Cold day in hell will Apple go on a non-800 mhz carrier. 1/3rd of its fanbase would be gone by their address not qualifying for service, the other 1/3rd would quickly leave and curse Tmobile/Sprint/Apple forever.

Obviously you've never looked at a Mac Pro then.

Your point is that Macs are too expensive. Either you're a Windows fanboy, or you are simply angry that another individual has more cash to drop on a desktop than you do. When I bought my Mac Pro, I knew I was getting a desktop that used quality parts with an OS that is 10x more stable (and less of a resource hog) than the piece of shit Vista is. Windows 7 is obviously a different story, and I've got my copy pre-ordered and a bootcamp partition waiting. You like PCs, I like Macs, get over yourself.

As far as your comment earlier:

Please consult a grade school English teacher regarding reading comprehension. I said "PORTABLE" devices.

What the hell does the "collapsing music industry" have to do with Apple and iTunes? I mentioned the fact that iTunes is the largest "music store" with the most customers, and that is your response? Considering Apple sells not only music, but movies, podcasts, and TV Shows, I'd say "yes", they are the king of media in combination with their highly popular portable (there's that word again) devices.

More money to spend? I just bought an EEE Box for my kitchen. No, you Apple fanboys are amusing, in the fact that you waste money on overpriced goods.

And I put Ubuntu on the kitchen pc, so don't start with accusations of me being a windows fanboy. I put together all of my pcs, and I take 30 minutes to do it. Is $800-1000 for the rest of the pc worth my 30 minutes to put it together?

All parts are made in China, just like all windows pc. Your overpaying for a pretty shell and different OS.

And that makes you the king of media again? Again, lots of places do exactly as you said, including Amazon.

Yes it does. Xeos are lower-power, and Intel stands behind them in a business sense.

That said, I'm not buying a Mac Pro anytime soon. However I like my late 2007 iMac, my early 2009 MacBook and will probably get the video iPod nano after I review it.

Also, the music industry isn't collapsing. It's just changing and the RIAA is whining about the changes being made. iTunes bolstered this new music industry and is doing quite well for itself. Apple is actually the #1 manufacturer of PMPs in the US and possibly the world, though I'm not sure on the last part. I think Sandisk and Creative are second and third respecitvely, but they're WAAAAAAAY down the list.

There are fanboys (I'm not one of them...not after Apple decided to keep the iPhone on the nation's least reliable wireless network) and there are haters. You appear to fall in the latter group. The haters IMO are worse off.

Mac Pros are professional grade gear, comparable to the Dell Precision workstations. ECC memory exists for a reason.

Xeons are made for servers, not desktops, genius. Servers usually run Windows or Linux, not OSX. Either way, it's highly idiotic.

And btw, core i7 is far better for normal desktop use then Xeons.

Apple wont sign up with a CDMA provider, It doesn't make since for them to have to remake a device for 1 market.

If anything I would expect them to go to T-Mobile and AT&T at the same time.

The only time I could ever see Apple going to verizon is when LTE is there primary network.
Ummmmm.. you really don't know this one bit for certain.

Changing a radio inside and a few small programming items is not hardly any major feat for apple to do.. as it was already said, too, it was originally designed for CDMA..

RIM has the Blackberry which is designed for EVERY carrier on the globe now... (not to mention MANY models as well)... It has the Curve for ATT, Sprint, Verizon, and even Nextel now... it has a faster growth rate and more market share than the iPhone (which I love, for the record).. it's clearly not difficult to engineer a phone for another carrier's technology..

So, tell me this, if you know so well, what makes the iPhone any different, or more special, or more difficult of a phone to cross platform than any other ol' cell phone made... huh?

You guys really need to stop with the talking points, or at least stop listening to each other as sources around here becuase so many people are so wrong so much of the time.

One more fact, and this is fact... apple does NOT exactly run around telling everyone their business but USUALLY does about the time of launch.. apple has been WELL known to keep a tight lip on many of the upcoming products the offer.

Seriously.. get over yourself... if the PC platform works for you, then go for it.. if the mac platform works - great.. I have both and I see good in both. Honestly, not a single crash on my mac book pro.. worth every penny for that machine. I also have a vista machine that I paid less for but also get less reliability.. but it CAN do more than the mac..

But, you're acting and sounding like a child here.. the very fact you're attacking price exposes some sort of personal issue you've got going on in your head.. to attack someone for allegedly spending too much money on something puts you at about the 5th grade mentality... what people spend is non of your business. The fact you say "you apple fanboys are amusing" while defending your own turf makes you, yourself a "fanboy"... I don't care what you're a fan of on either side.. "fanboys" make me want to vomit in the first place as you guys think that you're some sort of player in the creation of the object you love so much.. you're just a consumer..

You have something that works for you.. great.. shut up and leave everyone the hell alone.

Before you link me to Apple's server page, you may want to actually know facts...

quote:
In 2000, Windows comprised about half of the server operating system market, followed by Unix and Netware at about 17 percent each and Linux reaching towards 10 percent, she said, noting that today Windows owns about 70 percent, Linux about 20 percent, with Unix below 10 percent and Netware barely registering.
The server market is dominated by Windows and Linux, and showing Apples product makes as much sense as me making a server OS and linking you to it. No matter how much you want to cry about it, Linux and Microsoft are what matters in the server market.

I'd be just fine with the iPhone going to Verizon. If it frees up "congestion" and relieves the other issues on ATT's network, and makes it run smoother, then that works for me (for somebody that doesn't need all that). Then I can have a better ATT experience. People just assume that Verizon would work perfect with the iPhone demand. Truth is, you don't know.

Before OS 3.0, Apple didn't support it. Apple fankids seem to "forget" stuff like that. I own an iPhone (and a G1) which my girlfriend uses on T-Mobile. Yes it does MMS now thanks to the 3.0 software. Before? Not so much. Not without swirlyMMS - and I don't exactly count requiring 3rd party apps to get MMS as Apple "supporting" MMS on the iPhone.

So again, place blame where it's due. Blame ATT for their horrible 3g call quality, dropped calls, and poor data in the bigger cities, but the inability to do MMS was APPLE's creation, and the lack of support now is *mostly* thanks to Apple's original lack of support. The iPhone's lack of support of a decade-old technology required ATT to use a different system for receiving MMS, and now iPhone fankids are blaming ATT because it's taking a few months longer to reconfigure those settings.

You kids were obviously happy with the first 2 years of not having that basic feature - why so pissy about an extra few months?

If ATT was so concerned about data issues from MMS (which your iphone fanboi blogs like to contend), they could simply do what most network operators do: restrict the content size. downrez photos to 640x480, and limit video to 30 seconds (only on the 3gs of course, the first 2 iphones apparently can't do that very basic multimedia feature either).

Is ATT partially at fault for all of this? Yes. Is Apple? YES.

Only you fankids think that Apple's infallible hands are clean of this mess.
I am no Apple fan. You seriously cannot be this blind!!!
MMS is all on AT&T, AT&T did not get 2rd party software to work..Its a hack from someone other then AT&T and you cannot even get it unless you jailbreak your phone. it also does not work very well (FOR AT&T USers) at all and mostly not for very long because they end of making it not work. You have no idea what your talking about. Stop hating, go try one before actinkg like you do.
