CC gets to crow about how helpful they're being, and their subscribers go back to "yeah, whatever". Those captchas are from Recaptcha. It's a project that's aimed to OCR old documents, newspapers, and books whose text is poor enough quality that they can't easily be machine processed (which makes them good against automated attempts at solving them) but hopefully can be human readable (which makes them better suited then some distortion techniques that REALLY mangle the letters/words. |
