iansltx : *Theoretically* you can easily get 20 Mbps and 1 Mbps up on a single DOCSIS 1.1 channel each way. However the way Suddenlink has their plant set up that may be running things too close to tolerances. I'm on Comcast and while I could theoretically get 22/5 service on non-channel-bonding equipment, Comcast is conservative with how they let subscribers use their plant so they want to spread my downloading over four channels.

Also, if the modem Suddenlink gave you is indeed a DOCSIS 3 Motorola SurfBoard (SB6120) you've already got a great modem and honestly don't need the CM100 at all.

So yes, you could actually be getting slow speeds because you're only using DOCSIS 2.0 on your end...if DOCSIS 3 bonds three channels and there's 8 Mbps of capacity left on each one you'll get full 20 Mbps speeds on channel bonding and much less without. I wouldn't put it past SL for such a capacity issue to be present.

That said, if SL is telling you it's a line issue, it may well not be your problem. You can check your signal levels though to see whether that's your issue (»192.168.100.1). Post 'em back here and we'll analyze away.
