 | AOLers AOL users were dialing up and keeping a line open for days or even weeks at a timeyet faced no cost for the disproportionate capacity they used up. Where were all these AOL users??? One was lucky to stay online for a few hours let alone days or weeks! Weeks? WEEKS??? You must be joking! That's just not true. You couldn't use the phone for calls if you had it in constant use for days and weeks! Nobody would even try that unless they paid for a second line and that second line at 56k (or less) cost more than broadband today at 3000k!
Plus the service was paid for so it was NOT "free" or "no cost" in any case.
Keep in mind that the internet didn't get popular until AOL and all the other ISPs went to unlimited plans. That is what the people want and expect. |
