docsis 1.x should have been retired for use throughout the US & canada in 2008. speeds under 2.0 & 3.0 should be 15mbits and above with symmetric tiers at entry level. instead, we have companies milking 1.0 / 1.1 at speeds as low a 1mbit down & 384kbit upload for prices north of $30 a month into Q4 2009.
