It's a 2-way street. I think the joke is on Apple if they expect to sell iPhones through Verizon while maintaining the same level of control they currently enjoy with AT&T.
Those that really wanted an iPhone have already jumped ship from Verizon over to AT&T. I wouldn't expect any huge migrations going forward, unless the perception of AT&T's inferior service is remedied. Anyone that has been willing to wait this long for an iPhone to be available through another wireless provider is probably not willing to switch if no deal is ever reached.
