| [Service] xm did me good, believe it or not
My RoadyXT XM radio went on the blink several days ago. It would get stuck on the "loading" screen. Naturally, on my budget it is hard enough keeping a subscription, but we have NO TV here, we are too far from Nashville to get a signal, and there is no cable here, and on top of that, too many trees for a Dish service let alone we can't afford it. Because of all of this, XM supplies a badly needed connection to the world, I can listen to CNN for instance (I just wish that they supplied MSNBC).
Well, I called XM and explained to them that my radio was on the blink and the techies went through their steps to acertain if the radio is useable. It was broken...
Well, they transferred me to the department to cancel the service but the person I talked to was very courteous and she told me that she could send a radio and car kit to me free of charge, and if I needed a home kit and had 1/2 of its retail cost, they would supply me with that too, if I ask for the rentention department.
The sent me an XPress that I like a lot more than my dead Roady XT. This XPress has a rotating knob for changing channels and selections which I like MUCH more than the button push button implementation of the XT.
I was able to use the car cradle with my XT's antenna and AC Power adapter. When I get some money, I will take them up on getting the home kit though.
I feel quite fortunate and I am happy that I can't still have XM. The only issue is that this radio has a 90 day warranty, it is a refurb.
So, sure, I know XM/Sirius have done somethings to P.O. many of us, But for me, they have been quite good. A year ago I got 3 months service for no charge.
Thank you XM/Sirius!
Looks like I will be selling my car kit and home kit to the XT, and whoever buys I will let them have the XT to see what they can do with it. -- Join Teams Helix and Discovery. Put that fancy computer to good use helping to find a cure, your mom will love you for it. »Team Helix »Team Discovery |

| reply to signmeuptoo I never actually thought of myself being a "loyal customer" but I guess that actually fits: Even though they removed the two channels that were the reason I signed up to begin with (the progressive rock channel XM Music Lab, and the Jazz Fusion channel, I still use the service and enjoy it, but I sure do miss those channels.
I sorta like Underground Garage, it's eclectic. There are enough channels to still stay subscribed. -- Join Teams Helix and Discovery. Put that fancy computer to good use helping to find a cure, your mom will love you for it. »Team Helix »Team Discovery |

| reply to Dude111 What's garbage? Sorry, I don't agree, it's all much better than terrestrial broadcast FM radio.
My impression is that XM won't do something each of you want, so you throw out the baby with the bath water.
I don't like Howard Stern and have never listened to him except for about 5 seconds.
Perhaps you guys could do a better job than S/XM?
I get weary of all of the whining over their service. True, the channel make up eliminated some very desired channels, but if they made changes its just because they are responding to what the tasteless masses demand of them.
I am a former musician, so Classical, Progressive Rock, and Jazz Fusion best suite me. The folks doing those channels didn't play enough good variety because they overlooked European and Asian artists.
I am glad for those of you who can afford a fancy and expensive cell phone and can get music through 3G or what have you, that is terrific, but putting down S/XM, well...
Dude111, once again your post is annoying. What is this "word" : 'thet'? what is a thier?
WTF is this mind control thing you are talking about. Oh shut up already, they were kind to give me a radio, how they hell is that controlling me? | Not only are you going OT, but being obnoxious in the process. Stop using caps, it's not cool and your constant railing at XM is just annoying. Disgusting is a pretty lousy wording.
You are insulting me for still subscribing and spamming a thread. XM has eliminated some channels I really wanted, but they have also added stuff, too. I wonder if you could do better on their budget.
Personally I feel that they should either raise rates or add advertising. Even with some advertising (some, not a ton, not like AM/FM) it would still be much better than over the air radio.
You've made your point and done it in an annoying way, now leave me/us alone, please. -- Happy Halloween/All Souls Day. Join Teams Helix and Discovery. Put that fancy computer to good use helping to find a cure, your mom will love you for it. »Team Helix »Team Discovery |

Playlists are small,etc..........
How can someone justify paying MORE $$$ NOW for what they had before WHICH WAS BETTER? |

2 edits | reply to signmeuptoo Just wanted to bump this up, I had a Sirius Replay a good 5 years and this year it started to have the famous LED Issue »Sirius sportser replay . So it basically was useless at night. I was thinking about getting a new one. BUT the cost of even a used one on TSS was a bit much. So I called and told them I wanted to cancel if I couldn't use my radio.
They sent me to retentions obviously, I told them what happened. They offered me a stratus 6, for free. I told them I like the replay option of my old radio. So they then offered me the Sportster 5 »shop.sirius.com/edealinv/servlet···ID=56470 for 63 dollars. Less than the cost of a refurb Replay on TSS store. So I went ahead and got it. So I got their top of the line radio for 63 they waive of course the 15 transfer fee.
So I am a happy camper. |

But I was also looking to buy a new radio. This was fortuitous. |
