| New Keyboard for a Gamer
Title pretty much says it all. I'm in the market for a new keyboard. I play Aion mostly, a few FPS games here and there. I'm not looking to break the bank on the latest and greatest but nothing cheap.
I've heard a lot of bad things about the Logitech G15 not sure if its all true of course. Also heard that the G11 was still a good keyboard to pick up. Any thoughts? |

| I've never heard any bad things about the G15, and I own one as well. Have never had any issues; this is across multiple systems and both XP, Vista, and Windows 7.
That said, I have the first gen G15 which is technically superior to the 'newer' G15 which is sold right now.
So I guess I can reccomend the first gen G15, not 100% sure about the newer G15. -- THIS IS SPENCER. MISSION ACCOMPLISHED - I HAVE JOE. RETURNING TO BASE. |

Edit: My typing is terrible today...but it had nothing to do with the KBs =) |

| reply to Sefirot Some people still prefer the old G15 with blue back-lights but mainly because they like the blue instead of orange (I like the subtle orange myself) and it had more programmable macro keys. The thing was beastly large though, too big for some desks especially with keyboard drawers and the LCD panel was more vulnerable to accidental damage.
The 2nd gen G15 is a great board. No it is not flimsy or cheap in any way and the key lettering is etched to show the back-lighting for all keys, it's not painted on, so no it cannot fade. Either 1rst or 2nd gen G15s are tried and proven gaming keyboards - you will not feel disappointed at all if you pick one up either one. |

| I've always trusted Logitech for peripherals, and I hear almost 100% positive feedback on the G15, but when I handled one in the store, I absolutely hated the feel of the keys. The shape, the action - I'm sure it's ideal for some, but I just couldn't dig it. So it might not be a bad idea to look around your local Best Buy (if you have one, that is) and see if you can get your hands on it before your order online. Personally, I use this mechanical keyboard:
I think I'm in love with it... But then, I love the old-school clickety-clack sound! Apart from that though, it's the most solid keyboard I've ever touched. It feels like a rock. Heavy, rigid, braided cord, very grippy ribber feet, takes up a minimum of desk space... Not everybody's cup of tea, I'm sure, but I don't think I could ever stop using a mechanical keyboard after this baby. -- Core2Quad Q9450 @ 3.4GHz, XFX 780i SLI mobo, 2x MSI 8800GT OC in SLI, 4GB Patriot Viper DDR2-1066, Samsung 20x optical, Samsung F1 750GB HDD, Antec TP3 650 watt PSU, CoolerMaster Centurion 5 case, Vista Home Premium 64 bit... |

| reply to Sefirot I agree with Lamiel, I'm using one of the Unicomp KBs at the moment on my gaming box (I think they currently hold the IBM Model M patent from WAY back in the day), and I love how I instantly know if I've pressed a key or not.
Probably not ideal for a serious FPSer, they keys probably take too long to push and rebound, but I love it. The tactile control is impressive; I can kind of half-push a button, and know just by feel if I press it just the tiniest bit more, it'll click and register.

I wouldn't know, however, because even though shooters are my main games, I suck too much to tell a difference! Still, some could be better than others, perhaps? It seems like the keys on mine rebound pretty quickly, anyway... But again, I'm not the best judge. In any case, the tactile feedback is well worth it! -- Core2Quad Q9450 @ 3.4GHz, XFX 780i SLI mobo, 2x MSI 8800GT OC in SLI, 4GB Patriot Viper DDR2-1066, Samsung 20x optical, Samsung F1 750GB HDD, Antec TP3 650 watt PSU, CoolerMaster Centurion 5 case, Vista Home Premium 64 bit... |

So far I love this keyboard. The feel is great. The only thing I miss is the LCD screen from my G15 because I had it programmed with Vent to show me Vent info. I have dual monitors, so this really isn't that big a deal anymore. -- "My actions are not revenge...they are punishment..."

Love it Really like the built in USB ports and Audio ports. Reduces hanging cables.
It has a great feel and does not slide and real heavy weight.
A little pricey but worth it.... Also bought a DeathAdder with it... |
