said by Stray Bullet :said by danielk :You can't go wrong with a Razer keyboard, I myself have a Lycosa keyboard and it's been going strong since day 1, best bet would be either a Lycosa/Arctosa (Arctosa is just a Lycosa without the lights), or a G15, and you should be golden. Idk about the lycosa... I have one & my W,S,A,D,Shift & more keys, you cannot even see what they are anymore, only after about 6 months of using it... All you see is a big blob of blue from the light ... Other then that it is a great keyboard.... The Saitek Cyborg's WASD and arrow keys are plated and less prone to wear -- I'm folding and crunching to try to help prevent stories like »Update on my son who has cancer

| reply to Sefirot I have one of the G15 first gen keyboards. I love it still to this day. My WASD keys have wore off but truthfully, I could use the keyboard with no lettering or numbering on them since I know where all the keys are anyways.
If I had the money to blow, I'd get the new G19 keyboard. »www.logitech.com/index.cfm/keybo···cl=us,en |

1 edit | reply to Sefirot I know this is two weeks old, but I typed this up and THEN realized it was two weeks old...so I'm posting anyways
I've used a few keyboards in the past five years, and I'll go ahead and share my feelings on them:
1. I replaced my MS Multimedia Keyboard with a Saitek Eclipse keyboard (blue lights). It was rock solid for two or three years. This is probably the heaviest, most durable KB I've ever used. I decided after those three years that I really missed my multimedia keys so I went with my next board...
2. Saitek Cyborg. The board worked okay, but it felt so terribly cheap...and eventually showed its true colors. Three months and then the damn thing just QUIT working. Tried different USB ports, different computers...just stopped working. After some research I discovered that Saitek was purchased by Madcatz, which doesn't have an incredible track record. I tried to exchange the board but they wanted proof of purchase. Needless to say it went in the trash. The board was beautiful, had great features, easy to type on, etc...but it was just a brick. Newegg has some reviews that echo the same problem I had.
3. Replaced the above with a Logitech G15 (orange one). I bought it for the media buttons and back-lit keys. Didn't care much for the LCD screen, just wanted the previously mentioned features. It's pretty good. It's built better than the Saitek Cyborg, but still not as good as the Eclipse I had. I spent the few extra bucks on the Logitech one because I hear they're pretty good at RMA's. Hopefully I won't need to find out about their RMA process...
TBH, I would go to Best Buy like someone else suggested and play with them to see what feels best in your hand. You have to do the same thing for Mice as well. I wouldn't get a Saitek board though. |

| reply to Sefirot Thanks for the feedback everyone. I still haven't purchased a keyboard yet... I'm a tight wad with money but I have narrowed it down to the G15 or one of the Razr boards, can't think of the name.
Unfortunatly I live in the back woods so no Best Buy or any other electronic boutique around to put my hands on these.
Thanks again. |
