| The terminology vendors use to describe wireless security options can be confusing at best and conflicting at worst. Since you tested all available Tomato possibilities with WPA2, why not set Tomato to WPA and repeat your tests?
Have you tested both units with encryption disabled? That's usually the first thing people do to make sure that the connection is basically sound. If you can't connect the PS3 while encryption is disabled, then you have some other problem to solve.
