I am not convinced that pure speed is the competition. I think you are comparing the total package. Price, convenience, customer service, channels selection and a multitude of other things.

But I do wish for better upload. 384 is getting old. Otherwise we are happy with what Time Warner services we do have. And best of all ? Reliable service with no down time. |

I'm on 7/~400ish (maybe it's SUPPOSED to be 512k but I never get it?). I'd trade two megabits down for an additional half of one up. Seriously, I would. 5/~900k or 5/1? Sign me up, I don't care about those extra couple megs down! -- In dadkins' memory, Think outside the Fox... |

| reply to patt2k Very tempting. Will there be a download /upload cap? With 50mbps down, you can transfer a lot...
Also, what is RR/TWC policy on hosting? My port 80 is accessible, so with 5mbps upstream, could host some web stuff, just don't know what TOS are.
Anyone? |

I have RR Turbo - I get 30Mbps down and 1Mbps up.
I pay (as part of a DTV package):
37.72 for RR Service 9.96 for Turbo
I think this is an incredible value. Here is the detail breakdown of the DTV package (from my bill)
09/12-10/11 Road Runner Turbo $9.95 09/12-10/11 DVR Service $10.95 09/12-10/11 DTV Value And Hs Package Allocation $.01, Converter $5.87, Basic Service $12.72, Remote $.24, Standard Service $37.85, DTV $5.54, Road Runner Online Svc $37.72 |

| reply to patt2k It's available in NYC only......I'm 3,000 miles away.....I don't think I would dish out $100 per month anyway. That price is nuts. I think that the money I pay for Turbo is too much....However, yes, I dish that out.
I have a question....Does anyone know the prices and speeds in Western Europe, who is way ahead of us in Broadband? -- "If You Don't Eat Your Meat, You Can't Have Any Pudding"! |

| reply to hobgoblin Oh I think it is. For even cheaper price I rather signup with fios for 2 year contract instead of making contract with RR and get only 5 meg upload. And even higher price I wonder exactly what would be the price of it after making me contract and my bill is discounted. I will call and ask them. |

| reply to lordpuffer said by lordpuffer :I have a question....Does anyone know the prices and speeds in Western Europe, who is way ahead of us in Broadband? Very, very variable depending where you are and who your service provider is. Can't really say Europe is 'way ahead' of you it entirely depends on which part of Europe.
I have a 50Mbit / 1.5Mbit service with no download limits or shaping which is about 45USD / month. Most of the UK however maxes out at 24Mbit ADSL2+ |

I don't need 50Mbps for downloading right now, but I agree that there is tremendous room for improvement on the upload side. I'd absolutely pay more to get 3-5Mbps upload speed. Turbo is essential for me dealing with content production and publishing, if only because it provides 1Mbps uploads. I'd pay a reasonable amount more to get to 25-30Mbps for downloading, depending on the price. -- Phillip M. Dampier Editor, Stop the Cap! »stopthecap.com |

Too bad the existing tiers won't be upgraded. $99 is too much, maybe with 20Mbit upload then it'd be worth it. |
