| FIOS Router access
Hi,
the other day I was setting up WPA2 on the FIOS router Verizon installed (but ordered through DSLX), but I encountered this amazingly annoying login problem:
I can't log into the router more than once. I can hit the reset key and wait until the device reboots, and then I am asked to pick a password, and the next time I need to access the router - no access: "Login failed, please try again:".
I even made a new user (me) and made me an admin in the admin group, and still I cannot log in.
So it seems like the only way I can ever make a change to this router is to reset back to factory settings (and then remember all settings I must set it back to) each and every time I need to make a change.
That's insane! I'm often opening and closing posts, etc...
Please help me! WTF is the problem with that router? |

| •Are you changing the password when asked? •Are you using the new password when subsequently logging in?
The router has an annoying habit of displaying a random number of characters as you type the password. Ignore the number of characters displayed as you type the password.
If the answer to the above two questions is yes, then I have to assume the router is bad. You will need to open a support ticket with DSLX to have the router replaced. |

| Yes, and yes.
I've tried from multiple computers, and even when adding the one admin username I can log in via my iPhone to that new user once - but only once.
I've thought about perhaps next weekend do a restore and a quick firmware re-flashing (is the firmware on Westell's site branded Verizion?). |
