Acer AspireRevo - tiny and silent - $200 - WinXP new PC

w00t
I don't mean to advertise, but this is just so good I can't wait to find a buyer for my old Mini-ITX Atom PC (selling for a loss of course) so I can buy this beauty:

This even includes a mouse and a keyboard! All you might someday want is an external DVD burner or a wireless USB stick.

I mistakenly thought that was a 7" monitor too!

Nice package.

mine arrived!

My AspireRevo arrived from NewEgg and it's sweet! It's barely audible (literally - I have to not breathe and tune my ear in to hear it, the clock across the room ticks louder). It's ridiculously small. It has an excellent video graphics card - you can play decent games if you want.

The only thing I don't like with it - is it gets hot inside. I used SpeedFan to find out the GPU is 60 degrees and CPU is 50 degrees (with the hard drive a very nice cool 40 degrees). If it was 20 degrees cooler for the GPU and 10 for CPU, I'd be very happy

If you don't mind opening it up (I'm not sure how accessible those things are...), some nicer thermal paste on the heatsinks might get you closer to the temps you're looking for.

Ive been looking at buying one of these.

Have you hooked it up to your tv ? Does it play hulu ?

I didn't hook it up to a TV - but it does have HDMI out - so it should be great (others say so on the net). Hulu works well.

I like my 1600. Now, if Acer would only get off their butts and get the 3610 flowing full-force into the distribution channel I might get one of those, too.

Its only $500.
Seems rather pricey, but I guess that's the cost of no-wiring-needed convenience.

True. It lacks a battery. If it had a 3 hour battery built in, it would be a great candidate on a plane! Alas I now realize it does not. If only it were a Net-Luggable.

I once bought an Olivetti Transportable! Looked like that except for the Compaq logo. It was a good old 8086 processor, 20 meg hard drive and 5.25 floppy.

That was some time ago BTW.
