People and high tech toys

Does anyone know why people would buy high tech toys without knowing how to use it or what there function(s) is?
It's like walking in to store and saying it looks cool i'll buy it

They do... But to save money, you need to download the .pdf file from the Internet.

Reminds me of the video "How to Hook Up Your New Video Cassette Recorder" you got when you bought a new VCR...
