 | reply to CoxTech1 Are any of these tier usage caps new? Did the value package always have a 50GB cap? |

The Value tier that you referenced used to be capped at 4GB downstream/1GB upstream and has since been updated to 50GB total (upstream and downstream combined). |
|
 | Thanks! Any other tiers that have seen their caps changed?
And are these "hard" caps with tough enforcement or soft caps intended just to give customers an idea of what's deemed excessive? |

CoxTech1VIP join:2002-04-25 Chesapeake, VA kudos:63 | Usage caps for all tiers of service were increased. I have no news on any changes to enforcement policies however subscribers should understand that they can be held to the stated caps at any given time. |

 | Thanks for the information. |

| well, then that means if there strictly enforced, then i may have to give up on vonage. 90K uses a lot of bandwidth and, if i were to make a call, that can chew up on it pretty fast.
also, there's no meter like comcast has, either.
but, i'm assuming the limits are going to be enforced loosely. everyone was at 60 gigs and now 256 gigs is a lot.

methinks you're just spreading fud to find something to complain about. again.

[edit] and its not 256gigs. its 250 for premier and 200 for preferred. -- "...if I in my north room dance naked, grotesquely before my mirror waving my shirt round my head and singing softly to myself..." |

But is there a place where we can see how much bandwidth we have used? Otherwise, it's your word against ours. |

| just saying we will need to be careful as not to go over the limit. kinda makes one think.. metered billing after the 250 gig cap?
if i sound like i'm complaining, i'm not.
based on past performance, i doubt metered billing will be in cox's future if they want to keep their customers. -- Our 96K BroadBandStream Our Dial Up Stream Chat with us (IRC) follow me on Twitter |

i'm guessing more of a pseudo-comcast-esque soft cap where you are warned if you exceed the threshold and happen to be in the top x-th percentile of users across a market/cox.
based on past performance, i doubt metered billing will be in cox's future if they want to keep their customers.
past performance is not necessarily an indicator of future trending. however, since cox is a privately held company, there is no demand for shareholder profits. this removes the need to keep increasing the profit margin every year. as such, i doubt metered billing - but i have been wrong in the past. at any rate, the lack of a "cox sponsored" usage meter prevents anything of the sort (disconnection ala comcast or billing ala twc).

| reply to CoxTech1 If you stayed on the Vonage phone 24/7 you would even put a dent in the cap.
Loving the caps... I used to freak when I'd see my usage at almost 100 gig for the month. And this is measured at the router on an hour by hour, day, and month usage. I've got no problems with 200gig. I'm sure if I tried I could hit it but our area is so over subscribed you only get 2-5 megabits at night if you are lucky. --

 | reply to CoxTech1 Nice! Lots of headroom now for downloading.
I like to stream SKY.FM music at night and was worrying about the old 60 GB cap that Premier used to have.
Thanks Cox! |
