 [OC] AMD X2 5400 Vs.E7200

I do not know if i have a big mistake by getting cheap AMD X2 5400 when i could of gotten Intel E7200 for the same price.Have i made a big mistake and is it possible to overclock more than it is right now. My PC has mixed RAM and high timing?

Well the E7200 would have been a better overclocker and it does out perform the 5600+, but I guess it depends on the price/performance.

I would have gotten the Phenom II X3 720 or X2 550 though depending on the price point you were looking at.

I just put a 720 into mine and haven't overclocked it, but it's screaming faster than my 5200+. Not to mention a lot cooler too.

5400 is based on the Brisbane core, which knowingly has a borked temp sensor, (Google it). Enough reason for me to look past it. Should have went with the Phenom II flavor CPUs.

im a big AMD fan but the E7200 is a faster chip. for the same price, assuming you can get a motherboard for the same price as an AMD (AMD usually cheaper) then it would be the way to go.

The E7200/E7500 stack up against the Phenom II x2 550 for dual-core, but for the same money though you can get into a triple-core Phenom II X3 720 or quad-core Athlon II X4 620/630 which is the best buy IMO. This buying guide at Tom's Hardware is pretty good.

The old Athlon X2's don't compete with anything you can buy for ~$100 these days, that's why they sell for $60.
