Well, I finally am dumping Cablevision. Couldn't take their boxes and poor quality HD and even some SD channels. I'll also be saving about $10.00 a month for the first year. Anyway, i do not have a telelphone line in my house. I use my cell phone exclusively. Are they going to give me a problem at install? When I want to order PPV, will I run into a problem? |

NO
"When I want to order PPV, will I run into a problem?"
Perhaps-You won't run into a problem if you order from your D* account (that) will allow you to watch a PPV on any receiver ,rather than the one you ordered it from.
Whitout a phone line and just a Network cable connected to your ISP, foks have been having a problem with gettin IPPV enabled.
That;s why I said "perhaps" |

| reply to obeythelaw well, i am satisfied to order from the website. not a huge deal. i was more concerned about getting updates too for the boxes. do they come over the phone line or is it all through satellite? i heard that there was something and I saw it when i was ordering directv about a network option. However, I have a wireless network and didn't know if the receivers would support that. |

| I would suggest you call, you may get a better offer inperson than on the web. The Software updates come from the Satellite as well as at least 10 -1080P/24 PPV if you have a HDDVR,
You can connect the current hd receviers as well as the hddvr's to your local cat5 or cat6 local network and share jpg's & mp3's from your PC to any Receiver to be displayed on your tv.
You can also connect , wired, wireless to your network and get VOD for additional free and ppv content.
Connecting to your local network you will (Some time in the future) be able to mulit room view from a HDDVR to another Receiver on your network.
That's how D* plans on doing MRV
Hope you enjoy the service. |

| reply to obeythelaw A couple things: You can order PPV online, too, and each box will have access to that PPV. (nevermind, westdc said that lmao)
With your HDDVR networked, you can also stream videos on your computer to the box. It's best to use a 3rd party software like PlayOn or Tversity. You can use PlayOn to stream pretty much any video file, as well as, Youtube, Hulu, & Netflix (non HD). |

| reply to obeythelaw I didn't notice you saying anything about the referral credit (hope you knew about it!) but if you haven't actually ordered yet you're definitely going to want to get the $100 referred credit.
(more info on it at »www.directv.com/refer)
If you're interested PM me for my directv account number. |

1 edit | reply to obeythelaw RJ45 on the back of the Receiver-Either wired Cat 5 or 6, Wireless game adapter , or powerline adapters can be used.
My Hr22-100 has two RJ45 used as a brideg so I can connect to my network with one and connect a Blueray or TV set with second rj45. (two for one)
D* has a Connection kit they sell or you can use anything off the shelf. |
