 Callcentric down/unreachable?

I'm unable to get to the CallCentric website and my SIP client can't connect either!

Anyone else seeing a similar issue? I'm located in Brooklyn, NY

Same here. No webpage and no registration. Looks like the City of New York still exists so it must be a problem with CallCentric.

I wish they had some independent way of communicating with their customers.

Thanks for confirming, I've only been with them for about two months now - is this something I should get used to or out of the ordinary?

Very out of the ordinary. This is the first outage in about 9 months and the last one lasted about 15 minutes. Considering their domain servers and voice traffic are both down indicates one of their major providers went offline.

Someone probably cut through a communication cable somewhere..

hmm ... they are supposed to be right here in NYC, one of the primary reasons I chose them! Didn't want to my phone service fail because a remote cable was snapped. Cutting though cables in a big metropolitan area is rather rate, and even if so, it's usually fixed within a few hours - so let's see.

I have used Callcentric for a few years and have never seen this problem before. I am bummed out that I can't call anyone and find out what is happening. I run my business using Callcentric exclusively. Do I need to call the local phone company now and order phone service?

I wish I could forward calls to my cell phone right now, but their website is down. In fact, calling my numbers no longer go to voicemail. Nothing. Fast busy signal after a very long delay of nothing happening. I am going to lose a lot of business over this.

Crystal River, Florida.

I have tried a few other providers and CallCentric is, hands down, the best. No matter what company you choose there is always a good chance someone is going to cut through a cable somewhere. Thankfully it is New York City and people are available 24/7.

If it were Pittsburgh, PA or Enid, KS then we would be waiting for some recruiting company to find some poor bastard who knows how to climb down a well, rescue Lassie and splice together 512 pair of fiber optic cable in the dark with duct tape.

does anyone have their phone #? I remember seeing a 212 # on their website, just never anticipated their website and service going down at the same time so did not note it down!

callcentric.com down entirely, but callcentric.biz is up. I tried to call their support number on (212) 379-4000 and nobody answer.

Call (212) 379-4000 and press #1 for callcentric wholesale. I already tried Customer Service and Network operations, but no answer.

Sounds like they missed their maintenance window ever so slightly...

We are writing to inform you of a maintenance window that will occur on Monday October 5, 2009 from 03:00 AM to 07:00 AM US Eastern time (07:00 GMT/UTC to 11:00 GMT/UTC). This maintenance window requires changes that will affect service.

This was sent on 9/17. I wonder if the outage is related to the scheduled work? ... or did the warranty expire on a lowly router? hehehe

Service has been great so this glitch is not a show stopper for me.

Does anyone know if there is any way to forward your number to a cell or another line if you cannot access the site?? There should be some sort of fail-safe for this kind of problem..

Yeah, I saw that maintenance email - won't be using the service then so I'll be fine.

Hope they aren't trying to pull it forward because they were down anyway.

The number you are looking for is 212-379-4000. The company is split into 2 divisions with one being the Wholesale division and the other being the retail division. If you try to contact the retail division then it says they do not provide phone support and eventually terminate the call at the end of a recording.

I would rather they worked to resolve the problem than dedicating resources to answer my call. In these instances they should have a Official Twitter account setup so everyone knows what is going on. Maybe when the site comes up we should all open Trouble Tickets and complain about the lack of communication.. especially for a communication company!
