You obviously are new to VoIP.

CallCentric is one of the truly major business VoIP providers throughout the US, as well as supplier of other telecommunication services. They rarely ever have outages ... and the very few that have occurred are resolved in short order. They have a major office in the Wall Street area of NYC ... with a whole group of executives and technical and support staff.

CallCentric owns most of its own infrastructure including phone switches to make SS7 connections back into the PSTN at their location. They also operate their own network hardware that connects to the Internet using their own BGP ASN.

Because CallCentric operates a most of its own telecommunications infrastructure, their own people can resolve issues without needing to involve other vendors. And if an upstream supplier is at fault, CC has more clout in getting a quick fix.

The idea that CallCentric is a "small time" operation is preposterous. And, incidentally, all the speculation in the past that CC was based in Russia is equally silly. The offices are in NYC.

Just look at the posts in this thread ... from whiners who upon experiencing one rare short period of downtime are ready to crucify one of the best VoIP providers out there. Personally, expecting POTS type service at VoIP rates will never happen. There are many ways this could have been handled better, but in the big scheme of things this outage was trivial. Any one that depends upon a single comm channel for their connection will experience some down time. Even POTS goes down during stressful times (i.e. earthquakes).

If CallCentric values its customers then they should establish an official social networking page such as Facebook or Twitter where a CallCentric employee can login from their cell phone and reassure its customer when something goes wrong that they are aware of the problem, working on a resolution and some ETA. When customers are loosing hundreds of dollars per hour then I need some plausible excuse for their losses.
Bestware posted : I have used Callcentric for a few years and have never seen this problem before. I am bummed out that I can't call anyone and find out what is happening.
