October / November Vendor Announcements

This thread is for vendor announcements ONLY! This thread will remain stickied for two months and then locked and allowed to drift into oblivion much the same as the “For Sale” thread. Equipment companies/vendors may announce new WISP-related products or services under the following simple rules.
1. Referral links are abso-positivo-lutely not allowed. This includes any information in any part of any posted URL that could identify a reseller or this site.
2. Please make your announcement, simple, straight-forward, and free from spammy sounding claims.
3. Persistent spam will be deleted - If we see the same company re-posting the same equipment/service announcement, it will be deleted and sanctions may be applied.
4. Members are allowed to discuss, IN DETAIL, both good and bad points of equipment and services. This may not be something a vendor wants. If so, don't post it here.
5. Discussion will take place in the forum; NOT in this thread. Posts that do not contain product announcements will be deleted.
6. Failure to comply with these rules will be met with immediate sanctions, either against the vendor, the member or both. A Vendor that continually violates rules or encourages others to do so on their behalf will be denied future posting rights.
7. Sanctions may include temporary (or permanent) loss of posting privileges in this forum and loss of site account so please do not abuse this opportunity.
This forum is intended to discuss WISP equipment, issues, and related services only.

Thoughts, concerns or brilliant ideas for implementing this => Please send an IM to your friendly forum host, seagreen See Profile
Somebody not adhering to the intent/spirit of the above rules => Please send an IM to your friendly forum host, seagreen See Profile
These rules were last updated on June 17th, 2009.

 New QOS Implementation availability annoncement.

Announcing a new QOS implementation using Mikrotik RouterOS. This is a rather unique approach with RouterOS. I have a blog entry, in which I try to explain a little of my thought process as I created it. You can see the blog entry here: »blog.butchevans.com/2009/11/140/

The base cost of this implementation is just $175 and includes installation and orientation for the end user. This is a system that will very closely mimic the behavior of devices such as the Net Equalizer products. It is an advanced "intelligent" traffic scheduler that reacts according to traffic patterns. This system is not intended as a speed limiting set of queues. Rather, it is a system that automatically classifies traffic and prioritizes interactive traffic over the various non-interactive types of traffic seen in todays networks.

You may email questions direct to me at butche@butchevans.com or call me at 573-276-2879. Alternatively, you can ask questions on the forum. I may answer you privately instead of on the forum, depending on the questions.

RouterOS Training Courses

Butch Evans Consulting is hosting 2 training courses during December 2009. Both courses will be held online, so no need to travel. I have been in the business of training Mikrotik RouterOS users since 2004. These courses are derived from materials that have been in use since that time.

The RouterOS Firewall training has historically been my most popular course. This course is scheduled for December 8, 2009. This one day course will cover both theory and practical application involved in building a full firewall application in RouterOS.

The RouterOS QOS course is a very detailed look at building QOS in RouterOS. This course is scheduled for December 10, 2009. This one day course covers theory and practical application of building QOS in RouterOS. This course has been recently updated with all new material from my recent experiments in building a brand new approach to QOS in RouterOS.

Individually, these courses are $325 each. If you wish to purchase a seat in both classes, then order both and then send me an email and I will permit access to both courses for $300 per seat in each course ($600 total, a $50 deeper discount). To see more information, please follow the link found at »www.butchevans.com/ or drop me an email.

If you have any questions regarding these courses, then feel free to
email or call me at 573-276-2879.
